The Chicago Bulls and Oklahoma City Thunder dreamed of becoming the first to advance to the playoffs through the play-in tournament tonight (between Friday and Saturday) after finishing 10th in the regular season, but succumbed outside to Miami and Minnesota, who kept the house and secured their place in the playoffs.

The runner-up of the Eastern Conference survived with a late run on the way to 91:102 over the Bulls and will meet Milwaukee in the first round, the Wolves will meet Denver after defeating the Thunder 95:120.

Miami - Chicago 91:102

The runner-up of the Eastern Conference already saw how its season ends as a failure with elimination even before the playoffs, but a 1:15 run until the end of the game made the difference on the way to a difficult meeting against the team that ended the regular season with the best record - the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Heat led by ten points in the third quarter, but the Bulls, who were looking for a second consecutive away victory in the playoffs, did not give up and within a few minutes Zach Lavigne put them ahead.

DeMar DeRozan, this time without his daughter in the stands, took the lead 75:81 and Kobe White made it 87:90 three minutes to the end, but from that moment there was only one team on the field.

The seventh three-pointer of the game by Max Strauss made it 91:96 with a minute and a quarter to go, and from there his teammates closed a story from the penalty line on the way to the critical victory.

Strauss and Jimmy Butler led the Heat with 31 points, with Bam Adebayo approaching a double-double with only 8 points along with 17 rebounds. DeRozan's 26 points were not enough for the Bulls, who, despite the nice victory in Toronto, are ending a disappointing season for them.

Minnesota - Oklahoma City 95:120

The overtime loss to the Lakers sent the Wolves to a one-game home opener, where they withstood the pressure and knocked off the young Thunder en route to a second straight playoff appearance.

Rudy Gober returned from a one-game suspension following the punching incident and helped the Wolves to a 10-point lead at halftime, but what made the difference in the end was the incredible run between the third and fourth quarters - which stood at 18:39 and increased the lead to an indelible 80:109.

The defeated guest brought on the substitutes for the final minutes and raised their hands, thus ending a very impressive season with a sour taste.

Karl Anthony Towns led with 28 and 11 rebounds, while his partner in color Rudy Gober also stood out with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds, just before the two face a tough battle against Nikola Jokic and Denver in the first round.

Anthony Edwards recovered from the fall game against the Lakers with 19 points and 10 rebounds, the disappointing Thunder were led by Shea Giljos Alexander with 22.
