Two weeks after his demonstration at the Tour of Flanders, Tadej Pogacar returned to competition this Sunday … and to victory.
The Slovenian won the Amstel Gold Race, the only Dutch classic on the calendar, of which he was the big favorite in the absence of Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel (winner at Sanremo and Roubaix) and Belgian Wout Van Aert.
He is ahead of the Irish rider Ben Healy by almost 45 seconds and the Briton Tom Pidcok, 3rd, at the finish line.
The Slovenian thus imitates the Belgian Philippe Gilbert, the last to have doubled Tour of Flanders and Amstel Gold Race, in 2017.
