Augustine guided his people

Some may have been surprised to see Jean-Kévin Augustin enter less than 20 minutes from the end of the match.

The former Parisian titi, who is playing his first season in Basel, has put his people back on the right track.

The former Leipzig, Monaco or Nantes player scored the goal of hope on a perfect half-volley four minutes from the end of regulation time.

Goal which had the merit of putting the two teams tied on the whole of the two matches, while the first leg had ended at 2-2 in Switzerland.

He also made a good run before serving Ndoye from the side.

The latter finally stumbled on Schmeichel.

Augustin caused a foul from Dante in overtime.

All of his catches were effective.

Basel, despite everything

Led two goals to one in the first leg, the Swiss had found the necessary resources to equalise.

After eliminating Trabzonspor in the round of 16 then Slovan Bratislava – narrowly and after penalties – in the round of 16, FC Basel did not exist for nearly 70 minutes against OGC Nice.

Before finding the fault by Augustin and driving the point home in overtime thanks to Adams Nuhu.

Only 6th in the Super League and not yet sure of qualifying for a possible European competition next season, the Swiss have still managed to overthrow the Aiglons and will face Fiorentina in the last four.

Laborde yet in good shape

Gaëtan Laborde was lined up alongside Terem Moffi in attack.

The former "globetrotter" who passed through Bordeaux, Montpellier and Rennes, among others, immediately distinguished himself.

It was he who lit the first fuse after a corner quickly played by Ramsey, by chaining a first strike from the right then from the left (5th).

Before scoring the first goal of the game (10th).

Laborde came back on his left foot, and, with the slight help of a Swiss defender, opened the scoring.

He also missed the target on a beautiful curl (23rd).

In the second half, the center-forward was little served but narrowly missed a sumptuous goal, but his scissor passed right next to the Swiss goal (64th).

But not enough to avoid elimination...

FLOPS

The incomprehensible end of the Nice match

The qualification seemed acquired.

Never worried, the Aiglons were scuttled at the end of the match.

By conceding in particular a goal on the first shot of the Swiss in the second half… The coaching provided by Didier Digard was not effective and Pépé, Rosario and Amraoui did not bring enough.

In extra time, the Niçois completely let go and conceded a second goal by Adams Nuhu (98th).

An incomprehensible end to the match, punctuated by incredible feverishness.

Terem Moffi's teammates continue their negative streak, they who have not won since January 16 in all competitions and a victory against Sheriff Tiraspol (3-1).

End of course and end of season?

OGC Nice was the last representative of French clubs on the continental scene.

But will not ultimately reach the last four which was nevertheless promised to him... This match could also drown all end-of-season ambitions since in Ligue 1 and with seven days to go, Didier Digard's men are 10 points behind the first qualifying place occupied by Lille (5th).

Even if the calendar may seem affordable on paper, the Aiglons could end their season in a disappointing way, they who had nevertheless experienced a more than positive dynamic after the arrival of Digard at the beginning of January.
