Ducksch hat-trick against Hertha crowns Werder's "home game" in Berlin

SV Werder Bremen beat Hertha BSC 4-2 (2-0).

This is a very important threesome in the fight against relegation.

The game report of the DeichStube.

Berlin – Yes, he was there.

But nothing more.

Because Niclas Füllkrug is still struggling with calf problems, which is why

SV Werder Bremen

had to do without their top scorer again at short notice.

The 30-year-old followed

the away game at

Hertha BSC as a spectator on the bench – but with no prospect of being substituted on.

The injury just didn't allow it.

Unlike a week ago, however, Füllkrug's mood was brilliant despite the compulsory break, because he saw at close range how his team, with phenomenal fan support behind them, won the extremely important duel with the relegation-threatened capitals 4: 2 (2: 0 ) decided for themselves.

And his regular storm colleague

Marvin Ducksch

had a real cream day.

There were no changes in the line-up compared to the previous week due to the absence of the filling jug - for the first time in 2023. Maximilian Philipp, who last scored his debut goal in a Werder dress during the 2-1 home defeat against Freiburg, was again allowed to play alongside Marvin Ducksch

trainer Ole Werner

once again

trusted the Jens Stage/Leonardo Bittencourt team on the eighth position in front of sixth Christian Groß .

Unlike before, however, Milos Veljkovic took over the right part in the defensive line, captain Marco Friedl stayed on the left and the central part belonged to ex-Hertha player Niklas Stark, who was officially dismissed shortly before kick-off by those responsible in Berlin.

Werder Bremen gets big points against Hertha BSC in the relegation battle: Marvin Ducksch scores three goals

The niceties on the part of the hosts were over for the time being.

The fans of the capital club came late to the curve to express their dissatisfaction after the latest performances, while warming up there were a few whistles for the team of the new and re-coach Pal Dardai.

"Finally tear yourselves apart for

Hertha BSC

!" Some supporters demanded with a large banner.

The mood was different in the opposite Bremen camp.

In the sold-out Olympic Stadium, around

20,000 Werder fans

created a great atmosphere, supported their team with all vehemence and ensured a green and white home game atmosphere in the blocks around the historic marathon goal.

But the first chance belonged to the Berliners.

Marco Richter staged Dodi Lukebakio, but his shot went too central to goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka and was cleared (3').

Almost in return, Werder signed up – and how.

Mitchell Weiser and Hertha's Lucas Tousart rushed together in midfield, but referee Robert Schröder (Hanover) didn't whistle for a free kick.

Jens Stage got the ball, drove it forward and then put it through to

Marvin Ducksch

with pinpoint accuracy .

The attacker scored ripped off to give SV Werder Bremen

the lead

(6th), and since the video assistant no longer had any doubts about the validity of the goal despite an extensive examination, Werder had made a real dream start.

Werder Bremen in Berlin: 20,000 fans shout for Green and White to win against Hertha BSC

The hosts could see the uncertainty after this new setback.

Many inaccuracies characterized the game, time and again the ball landed prematurely on the side or with the opponent.

But despite the lead, the Bremen pros initially lacked the necessary sovereignty in their actions.

They also made unnecessary ball losses and misplays, which is why they hardly ever managed to calm down the action against a battered opponent.

Instead, this was achieved through the result.

Christian Gross

rushed to the right next to Weiser and crossed to Ducksch, who found it easy to hit his head (27 ') - a rare goal, as Werder's attacking man is not exactly a proven header monster.

Werder Bremen

were 2-0 up and almost quickly raised through

Maximilian Philipp

, but his beautiful shot was deflected decisively into a corner (30').

Exactly ten minutes later, Ducksch just missed the hat trick when he missed the goal after good work from Bittencourt (40').

Shortly before the break, Philipp lobbed the ball straight into Stage's path, but his hasty lob only landed on the box (45').

Werder could have, if not had to, lead higher a long time ago – and that was the only reproach that could be leveled at the team on what had been a perfect afternoon so far.

After the change of sides, what was missed was quickly made up for.

Because

Werder Bremen

was allowed to continue playing football fairly unhindered.

After a first cross from Bremen was not crowned with success, Anthony Jung sent the ball directly back into the danger zone, where the outstanding Ducksch had the time to calmly get the game device out of the air with his chest and uncompromisingly to a three-pack to hammer into the mesh (51st).

The stadium became quieter and quieter, at least the part that kept up with the Berliners.

Werder's fans, on the other hand, sang even louder and treated themselves and their club to a memorable holiday.

Werder Bremen still has to tremble a little against Hertha BSC

Speaking of gifts: After a little more than an hour, Hertha

defender Augustin Rogel and keeper Oliver Christensen faced

a disastrous voting problem, which not only symbolized the whole dilemma of the bottom of the table, but also brought

Mitchell Weiser

into play, who had no problems against his ex -Club increased to 4-0 (63rd).

Ole Werner took the opportunity and brought on Romano Schmid and Eren Dinkci for Bittencourt and Philipp, but the new duo conceded a goal straight away.

Because Werder didn't defend vigorously enough, Jessic Ngankam came to an end and shortened the lead (68').

Should it really get hot again?

SV

Werder Bremen

almost replied immediately, but a Friedl header only landed on goal (72').

A little later, however, Veljkovic fouled Ngankam in the penalty area, and Lukebakio converted the penalty to make it 2: 4 (79 ').

But Werder didn't really have to tremble anymore.

The final offensive by the hosts was simply too sparse for that.

Despite six minutes of stoppage time, Ducksch and Co. finally brought the win safely across the finish line - and not only left Niclas Füllkrug and all other Werder fans happy, but also took a very important step towards staying up in the

table

.

All in all, the “home game” abroad went pretty well.

SV Werder Bremen: Pavlenka – Weiser, Stark, Veljkovic (Pieper 80), Friedl, Jung (Buchanan 80), Groß (Gruev 90), Stage, Bittencourt (Schmid 66), Ducksch, Philipp (Dinkci 66)

UPDATE LIVETICKER

>>>

90th + 6 minutes: it's over!

Out of!

Over!

Werder Bremen wins 4-2 at Hertha BSC and scores three big points in the fight against relegation.

For Hertha, bottom of the table, things are looking increasingly bleak.

90. + 4 minutes:

Romano Schmid sees the yellow card for a foul.

90th + 4 minutes:

The 25,000 Bremen fans in the Olympic Stadium celebrate the final whistle.

90. + 3 minutes:

Hertha tries everything, but can't get through.

90 minutes:

Werder's Ilia Gruev comes on for Christian for the six-minute stoppage time.

89 minutes:

Ducksch reappears in the Berlin penalty area, but quickly loses the ball.

87 minutes:

The Berliners are now running, playing all or nothing, while Werder are waiting for the decisive counterattack.

That can be long, long minutes until the final whistle, especially since there should be a whopping stoppage time against.

84 minutes:

And it's two goals for Werder again.

The people of Bremen definitely have themselves to blame for that.

Completely unnecessary, as the guests have made a basically defeated opponent strong again.

80 minutes:

A double change at Werder: Veljkovic, who was injured on the penalty spot, leaves the field.

Amos Pieper comes in for him.

In addition, Lee Buchanan (for Jung) is new to the game.

His mission: stop the fast Lukebakio.

Hertha also changes: Ejuke comes for Ngankam.

Werder Bremen in the live ticker against Hertha BSC: Dodi Lukebakio makes it exciting again!

79 minutes: Lukebakio steps in and shortens the lead to 2:4.

Now this is where it gets exciting again!

77 minutes:

Referee Schröder looks at the scene for a long time, but sticks to his decision.

76 minutes:

What's going on now?

Penalty for Hertha because Veljkovic brings down Ngankam in the penalty area.

75 minutes:

Tousart shoots from a central position and Pavlenka has the ball easily.

72 minutes:

Next change at Hertha.

Dardai takes Marco Richter out of the game and sends Florian Niederlechener onto the pitch, with which the coach wants to start his team's final offensive.

70 minutes:

Almost the quick response from Bremen: Eren Dinkci aims just wide of the goal.

68 minutes:

Serdar plays the ball into the penalty area, Ngankam wins the duel with Stark and scores.

68 minutes: The connection falls out of nowhere: Jessic Ngankam shortens the lead to 1:4.

66 minutes:

A double change at Werder: Maximilian Philipp and Leonardo Bittencourt leave the field, Eren Dinkci and Romano Schmid are new in their place.

63 minutes:

After a back pass from Rogel, Hertha keeper Christensen makes a nasty stick mistake - Weiser gratefully accepts the invitation and slides in to make it 4-0.

If the guests continue to step on the gas here, it could get really bad for the home side.

63 minutes: And that's 4-0 for Werder!

This time it's Mitchell Weiser who scores!

57 minutes:

Werder have conceded two goals in the past six games.

Today there is zero so far, which, in addition to the offensively pale Berliners, also has a lot to do with the converted three-man chain in Bremen.

Strong as a man in the center and his neighbors Friedl (left) and Veljkovic (right) have the situation well under control.

55 minutes:

Sure, there's still a good half hour to play here, but how these Berliners are supposed to get back into the game is a very, very good question at the moment...

51 minutes:

Great attack from Bremen, which Ducksch refined with his third goal of the day.

First, a wonderful pass from Groß to Ducksch, whose cross goes a little too long and lands on Anthony Jung.

He immediately brings the ball back to the second post, where Ducksch does the following: take the chest, direct the shot with the left - goal!

Werder Bremen in the live ticker against Hertha BSC: Marvin Ducksch manages the triple pack!

51 minutes: And.

Again.

This.

ducksch!

3-0 for Werder!

48 minutes:

Danger in the Bremen penalty area!

Richter initially gets through well, but then loses the ball and Bremen can clarify.

In the end, it's Stage who calms the situation down.

47 minutes:

While Werder returned to the pitch unchanged, Hertha coach Pal Dardai made three changes: Cigerci, Scherhant and Dardai are out, Rogel, Serdar and Boateng are now in.

46 minutes:

Round two is running!

45th + 2 minutes: halftime!

Werder go into the dressing room with a comfortable and deserved 2-0 lead.

See you soon!

45 minutes:

If Werder can be blamed here, it is that the team has not long since made it 3-0.

It's just Philipp who lifts the ball over the box from the best position.

There was a lot more in it!

45 minutes:

Hertha still can't think of much.

43 minutes:

First the great fan march, then 25,000 Bremen fans in the Olympic Stadium - and now a more than appealing game.

In short: The Werder fans have had a perfect afternoon in the capital with the best Werder so far.

41 minutes:

That must be the hat trick!

Leonardo Bittencourt takes the ball with him at full speed, puts it across to Ducksch, who shoots past the post with his outside instep in front of the goal.

40 minutes:

Lukebakio now makes a bold move that gets Werder's defense going.

In the end, the Hertha striker lets himself be pushed a little to the outside, his weak cross ends up at Friedl.

38 minutes:

Incidentally, Niclas Füllkrug is on the Werder bench but, as is well known, will not be able to play due to calf problems.

It's only good from Bremen's point of view that Ducksch is now a strong deputy for the national player.

35 minutes:

Hertha tries hard to find solutions in the game.

Only the home side has not succeeded so far.

Again and again they run into the Bremen defense.

34 minutes:

Christian Groß has not only excelled up front as a preparer, but also conquered important balls at the back.

Just like when he stole the ball from a Berliner in a dangerous position.

31 minutes:

Werder now extremely powerful!

After a corner, Friedl heads to Hertha defender Marton Dardai, from whose arm the ball bounces in the direction of the goal.

Christensen reacts strongly.

30 minutes:

And again Werder in attack!

Philipp just misses the far post by a hair's breadth and misses the possible 3-0.

27 minutes:

Christian Groß has his eye on his team-mate and serves Ducksch, who is completely free, with a buttery cross, which the striker deliberately heads into the far post.

A great hit!

Werder Bremen in the live ticker against Hertha BSC: Marvin Ducksch puts together the double pack!

27 minutes: 2-0 for Werder!

Again it is Marvin Ducksch who scores!

25 minutes:

A young cross sails promisingly into the Berlin penalty area, but Ducksch can no longer get the ball. Hertha goalkeeper Oliver Christensen grabs it.

23 minutes:

Christian Groß loses the ball unnecessarily and can thank his captain Marco Friedl for correcting the mistake immediately.

21 minutes:

A Hertha free-kick sails into the Bremen penalty area, Jens Stage keeps track and decides the important header duel in his favour.

Overall, Werder has defended well so far.

The distances are correct.

20 minutes:

The Berliners managed not to completely lose the thread after the early goal.

They are currently keeping Werder well away from their own penalty area.

Both teams behave vigorously in midfield.

17 minutes:

Bremen currently have 35 points in the lightning table.

If that's still the case after the final whistle, it should more than calm Bremen's nerves in terms of the relegation battle.

15 minutes:

A bad pass in the build-up game by Werder captain Marco Friedl has no consequences because the Berliners lack precision on the offensive.

12 minutes:

Werder just had a lot more possession.

The early goal obviously did the team good.

10 minutes:

Now it will be exciting to see how the Berliners react to this early blow.

6 minutes:

What a dream start for the guests.

They take the lead with the first chance!

Jens Stage has the eye for Ducksch, puts the ball into the penalty area, where the striker stays ice cold.

There were loud protests on the part of Hertha because they saw a foul by Mitchell Weiser on Lucas Tousart in the creation of the goal.

Referee Robert Schröder looks at the scene briefly on the screen and finally decides on goal.

6 minutes: Tooooooor for Werder!

Marvin Ducksch makes it 1-0!

5 minutes:

Hertha with a very powerful start.

Werder has to get used to it first.

3 minutes:

Bremen are not (yet) safe.

After a nice pass from Marco Richter, Dodi Lukebakio comes to the first end of the game.

Werder keeper Pavlenka is on the spot.

2 minutes:

After just a few moments, it becomes clear that Werder coach Ole Werner has rebuilt his back three.

This time ex-Berliner Stark defends in the center, Milos Veljkovic on the right side.

In this way, stability should finally return to the Bremen defense.

Werder Bremen in the live ticker against Hertha BSC: kick-off!

The game is on!

3:30 p.m.:

The game is on!

3:27 p.m .:

Here come the teams!

Werder is carrying salmon again today!

3:25 p.m .:

In protest against their team’s recent performances, the Hertha fans came late to the curve.

3:23 p.m .:

Acoustically, the whole thing currently sounds like this: The Werder fans make a loud mood, the Berliners whistle on the other hand.

3:17 p.m .:

Werder is known to have incredible support from up to 25,000 Bremen fans in the Olympic Stadium in the back – however, the expectations of the Berliners of their team are immense, as revealed by a large banner stretched across the fan curve: “Finally tear yourself apart for Hertha!”

3:13 p.m .:

Berlin has always been worth a trip for Werder in recent years.

Bremen have not lost at Hertha for seven league games.

3:09 p.m .:

Nice moment for Werder professional Niklas Stark!

Before the warm-up, the 28-year-old was officially bid farewell by those responsible at Hertha.

Stark played for Berlin for seven years from 2015 to 2022 before his contract was not renewed and he moved to Bremen.

Today he appears for the first time as an opposing player in the Olympic Stadium.

3:06 p.m .:

After the recent 2: 5 against Schalke 04, Hertha BSC changed coaches before the Werder game: Sandro Schwarz had to go, Pal Dardai took over.

Once again.

Now all hopes rest on him.

However, the record of the 47-year-old against Bremen looks bleak so far: the coach Dardai could not win any of the eight duels so far.

3:03 p.m .:

Hertha BSC against Werder Bremen – today this is the duel between two teams that have both been waiting for a win for six games now.

While a success in Berlin for Werder could definitely have a decisive character in the fight to stay up in the league, bottom Hertha urgently needs a win in order not to lose touch with the saving bank completely.

3 p.m .:

At Werder, Maximilian Philipp will again storm alongside Marvin Ducksch.

Most recently, during the annoying 2-1 draw against SC Freiburg, the 28-year-old made a good impression, scored a goal and also had many other respectable actions - above all: a spectacular overhead kick.

2.50 p.m .:

This is how Hertha BSC starts the encounter: Christensen - Pekarik, Dardai, Kempf, Plattenhardt - Lukebakio, Cigerci, Tousart, Richter - Ngankam, Scherhant.

2.40 p.m .: Also taking a seat on the Bremer bench: Michael Zetterer, Amos Pieper, Romano Schmid, Eren Dinkci, Niklas Schmidt, Lee Buchanan, Ilia Gruev, Fabio Chiarodia.

2:31 p.m .:

Means: Niclas Füllkrug fails.

He still has calf problems.

Werder Bremen in the live ticker against Hertha BSC: Niclas Füllkrug falls out

2.30 p.m .:

Now the

line-up of SV Werder Bremen

is there!

This is how coach Ole Werner's team started against

Hertha BSC

in Berlin :

Pavlenka - Stark, Veljkovic, Friedl - Weiser, tall, young, Bittencourt, Stage - Ducksch, Philipp.

1.45 p.m .:

Off to the stadium!

The fan march really had everything - lots of green and white, lots of emotions, lots of fun.

Kudos to all Werder fans and the Berlin police.

What a football festival!

1:43 p.m .:

Now it’s still a bit delayed.

1:35 p.m .:

Now the police take over and let the fans move into the stadium in groups of 500.

1:31 p.m .:

Arrived!

The

Werder fans are there, the chairman of the meeting ends the event and makes a clear announcement: Now accelerate for 99 minutes in the stadium!

No matter where you sit!

1:24 p.m .:

Turn once more – and which song is being played?

"Where the Weser makes a big curve"!

Naturally ...

1:22 p.m .:

We just asked the Berlin police: more than 10,000 Werder fans are running.

Craziness!

1:20 p.m .:

There are more and more Werder fans on the home straight, there is no end in sight on Heerstraße.

1.15 p.m .:

"Everybody hook up" is the command - and then it gets really loud, the windows open at the roadside.

1:13 p.m

.: Of course, there is a stop at the stop sign so that everyone can do the last few meters together.

The Werder scarves whirl.

1:08 p.m .:

Many a sign gets one glued here … All of Berlin is green and white today!

1:06 p.m .:

Where is the police car from which “Eisern Union” was heard earlier?

1:04 p.m .:

Wow, that’s hot, but the fans keep singing – also on Herrstrasse.

this also applies, of course.

In his first season as a Bundesliga coach, such games are very special moments: “It will be a great away game.

And we want to do a good job if possible, so that we can say afterwards that it was great.” (kni)
