It seemed that Golden State would finish the story at the Chase Center and not be forced to return to the hall in Sacramento for a seventh and decisive game, but the Kings had other plans and on Sunday night in their home hall, the identity of the one advancing to the second round of the playoffs would be determined.
Sacramento started the series against the NBA champion with two home wins, but then came three consecutive losses and the Warriors put themselves in a comfortable position.
Malik Monk with 28 points and Daron Fox with 26 points and 11 assists proved otherwise and returned the home team to their team just in time.
In Sacramento, rookie Keegan Murray also excelled, scoring 15 points (including four three-pointers) and grabbing 12 rebounds on the way to his first double-double in the playoffs - he scored 12 points until halftime, which ended with a 51:58 lead for the Kings, who actually led from the second quarter until the end of the game.
Kevin Harter, who has been struggling throughout the series and scored only 20 of the 52 shots he took, made two critical three-pointers in the last six minutes and allowed his team to maintain the double-digit lead and secure the victory.
On the other hand, Domantas Sabonis got into foul trouble and settled for 7 points and 11 rebounds along with 5 turnovers.
Stephen Curry scored 29 points and Klay Thompson added 22, but they were unable to pull their team out of the deficit.
Sacramento, which has not been in the playoffs since 2006, went into the fourth quarter with an 80:90 advantage, then Kerry began to try to shoot from outside the arc, but every shot he made was answered by the visiting players - first it was Trey Liles who responded with his own three-pointer, then Monk went to the basket and the visiting team interrupted a streak of Six away losses to Golden State, since February 2020.
