Over the years, she has also received quite a bit of criticism for the very fact that she poses in minimal clothing and sells her sexuality in order to maximize profits, and she always claimed: This is my full right, and in fact I don't do anything that most female students my age do.

Now, in an interview with "Sports Illustrated", she claims that appearing in the prestigious magazine is a "dream come true" for her, and talks about her career, influence and mean reactions.

"People always say things online that they would never say to your face, so the goal is to develop a thick skin, because social media is a tough world," she admits, "I think it's important to stand up for yourself. Maybe it's the Jersey girl in me, but I think Girls need to know that it's not okay for people to say things to you, especially since I post things that any other college kid would do.

"Or the fact that I'm in a leotard - that's the uniform required to be a gymnast. It's ridiculous.

"There are always people who want to downplay your success and say it's just because of the way you look or it's just luck.

I am much more than just sexuality.

"I don't give this negativity too much attention because it doesn't deserve it. If I want girls to hear my message, I need to focus on what I want to say and not waste my time being defensive towards people who don't try to understand what I'm doing."

According to her, "Girls are not responsible for the bad behavior of boys. Many gymnasts are taught to keep silent, and this has led to a lot of abuse in the industry. I want to be part of the new generation that tells girls to use their voice. You can feel comfortable in your own skin and be strong, sexy and smart."
