It was always said that the EHC should start in the new season as a "farm team" (sponsoring license partner) of the DEL club Augsburger Panther.
But a few days ago, the Königsbrunners announced that they would not exercise their right to advancement for economic reasons.
This actually has consequences for the new season, because according to the Bayernliga implementation regulations, a Bayernliga club that does not exercise its right to advance will be fined 4,000 euros.

The Bayernliga is now back to 15 clubs - but the summer theater continues: EHC Klostersee has now announced that it will leave the Oberliga for economic reasons and return to the Bayernliga, which would then have 16 clubs.
However, in recent years it has always been the case that a club that voluntarily withdraws from the premier league is not considered to be more sporty, but as an economic relegation and actually has to start again in the district league.

Because here, too, there have been exceptions in the past, including for Erding.
After the Jets bankruptcy in 2002, the district townspeople had to join the district league, but after the Gladiators voluntarily withdrew from the Oberliga in 2015, Erding was grouped into the Landesliga due to his outstanding youth work - and was promoted the following season.
Bayernliga was never an issue for the "Oberliga economic refugees", with the (logical) argument: "You could choose the league." In the current case, the ice hockey commission of the state association has the last word, where Klostersee may start.
There is no question that the Oberliga, which is managed by the DEB, would like to have more clubs.
