Natalie Geisenberger is mom! The world-class luge athlete from Miesbach gave birth to her son Leo on Saturday. The family is very happy.

Miesbach - Four Olympic gold medals, seven World Cup total, nine world championship titles: Luge athlete Natalie Geisenberger from Miesbach has long achieved everything. On Saturday, May 2nd, she crowned her private happiness: The 32-year-old gave birth to a son. "Welcome, little Leo," wrote the Miesbacher on Sunday afternoon on her Facebook page. Numerous congratulations from friends, acquaintances, companions and fans were received within a few minutes.

It is the first child of the Miesbacher, who married her long-time friend Markus Scheer in Schliersee in June 2018. After the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, she watched “from year to year”, Geisenberger said in October 2019 of the sports show. She took the World Cup in Winterberg in January 2019 with her because she felt like it. And also here, a few months before her pregnancy, the luge showed her world class again and won two titles in single and sprint. The police chief won her 49th and, for the time being, last World Cup victory on February 23, 2019 in Sochi, Russia. She suspended the 2019/2020 season: baby break. But when she announced her pregnancy, Geisenberger made it clear that she would be returning to the ice channel. "My plan is to be there again next year and my long-term, current goal - if everything goes as we think it would be - to start again in Beijing 2022."

At the moment, however, the sport may have taken a back seat at Geisenberger and Scheer. No wonder with so much family happiness. Whether the freshly baked mom is still in the back of her mind at the World Cup opening on 28/29. November in Innsbruck thinks their secret remains. She is at least as happy when her little son sits on a sled for the first time. Of course (for now) not in the ice channel, but on a small snow hill.
