Stefano Domenicali has opened the door to a reinstatement of the French Grand Prix by inviting Emmanuel Macron to call him.

The French Grand Prix has disappeared from the Formula 1 World Championship calendar this year.

An absence noticed by the boss of the discipline and former director of Scuderia Ferrari Stefano Domenicali who does not exclude a return, but not under any conditions.

You cannot say

: I come because I am France.

More than anyone, I want your country back on the calendar, but you have to make the efforts that others are making.

“Explained the Transalpine in an interview with L’Equipe.

Domenicali only asks to be contacted by a representative of a French bid but seems to complain about the lack of interlocutor, more than a problem of financing linked to the price of entry into the championship.

Everyone just has to make an effort.

Better still, you need interlocutors.

And for the moment, at home, we don't have one

, ”added the Italian who is awaiting a call from the top of the state.

The day when President Macron tells me that he wants to discuss to talk about the return of France, I come.

If he wants to discuss, I will be there as soon as he wants to talk about it

”, concluded Domenicali on the subject.

Absent from the calendar between 2009 and 2017, the Grand Prix de France had found a place in the discipline at the Paul Ricard circuit, in the Var.

But after four editions (and one canceled due to the pandemic in 2020), the race had left the championship again.

The dissolution, at the end of 2022, of the public interest group which managed the event, left a deficit of around 27 million euros.

Of this sum, 16 million corresponds to a liability and 11 million to an advance from the Euro Region and an advance from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.
