The Giro 2023 begins this Saturday with an individual time trial between Fossacesia Marina and Ortona.


The course

3489.2 kilometers in 21 stages are on the program during the three weeks of the course.

The course is mountainous since it has 51,400 meters of elevation gain.

It also includes three individual time trials for a total of 70.6 km (1st, 9th and 20th stages).

The start will be given this Saturday at Fossacesia Marina on May 6th.

The final arrival will be judged in Rome on May 28th.

The runners will be entitled to two rest days: Monday May 15 and Monday May 22.

Twenty-two teams of eight riders will start, making a total of one hundred and seventy-six riders.

Note that the outgoing winner, Jai Hindley, is absent.

The rule

Four distinctive jerseys: pink (general classification), cyclamen (points), azure (mountain) and white (young)

Bonuses: 10, 6 and 4 sec to the first three of each stage in line.

3, 2 and 1 sec to the first three of the intermediate sprint.
