Clarisse Agbégnénou: “Becoming a mother calmed me down”

INTERVIEW – In search of a 6th world title in Doha, the French judoka talks about her motherhood, her return and Paris 2024.


Mom since June 17, 2002 of a little Athena, Clarisse Agbégnénou could have left her kimono in the locker room for good.

From the top of her five world titles and her Olympic double in Tokyo in 2021, the native of Rennes had nothing more to prove.

Except that she has one dream left: to become Olympic champion in Paris in 2024. To achieve this, the 30-year-old young woman says she is ready to overcome all obstacles, from a conflict with her federation over her judogi to a delicate fitness, through the constraints of motherhood.
