Live F1 Miami GP | Checo Pérez started first and maintains his position, Alonso second and Sainz third

2023-05-07T20:05:05.914Z

Verstappen started ninth because of Leclerc's spin on Saturday, but he is already flying towards the top positions

The Miami Grand Prix takes place this Sunday on the urban circuit of Florida.

Checo Pérez started from

pole position

and wants to distance himself from Verstappen, who started ninth but is now back at the head of the race.

Fernando Alonso runs second trying to follow Pérez while he defends himself from Carlos Sainz, who follows him in third position.

The defending world champion, who leads the standings, started from behind after an accident by Charles Leclerc in qualifying yesterday left him with no chance of fighting for the front places on the grid.

Fernando Alonso, who continues third in the standings, will start second followed by Carlos Sainz, who has not yet been on a podium since the start of the World Cup, but is ahead of his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc overall (5th).

In a nod to the prolific Hispanic community that is concentrated in Miami, Sergio Pérez, Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz will lead the starting grid for the fifth stop on the calendar (9:30 p.m., Dazn);

a test that is presented explosive after a timed session that remixed the natural order that had been seen in the rehearsal sessions.

Free practice reinforced the feeling of dominance of Max Verstappen, who seems to have something more than the rest in Florida.

That margin will be great for the current champion, forced to start ninth, from the fifth row, by the work and grace of Charles Leclerc.

The Monegasque from Ferrari went off the track in his last fast lap attempt in the final heat (Q3), and rammed his car into the protection barriers.

Oriol Puigdemont tells it.
