17.43 Uhr: Aber natürlich ist es erst mal gut, dass Stuttgart auf dem Abstiegs-Relegationsplatz keine Punkte gesammelt hat. So kann Werder den Abstand mindestens halten.

Mit einem Sieg heute gegen die Bayern wäre auch rechnerisch alles klar.

Trotzdem kannst du immer in eine Position kommen, bei der am Ende mit ein bisschen Glück etwas geht. Das müssen wir aber mit unserer eigenen Leistung erst einmal hinbekommen“, sagt der Coach des SV Werder Bremen, der gegen die Bayern auf Toptorjäger Niclas Füllkrug verzichten muss.

Wie genau das eigene Auftreten gegen den FC Bayern München ausschauen soll, hat Ole Werner genau vor Augen: „Wir müssen als Mannschaft griffig und unangenehm sein, unsere Chance dort suchen, wo es der Gegner vielleicht auch zulässt“, sagt der Cheftrainer des SV Werder Bremen. „Für uns kommt es auf die Grundlagen des Fußballs an: Kompaktheit, Zweikampfführung, das gegenseitige Unterstützen. Aber selbst wenn du das zu 100 Prozent machst, wird es Situationen geben, in denen eine Mannschaft mit dieser Qualität trotzdem Lösungen hat. Da ist es dann wichtig, eine gewisse mentale Stabilität zu haben.“ Was fraglos leichter gesagt ist als getan – wenngleich die Bremer in dieser Saison schon häufiger bewiesen haben, dass sie Rückschläge verkraften können. Allerdings haben sie auch schon ein paar zu viele davon kassiert. Tabellarisch ist die Ausgangslage mit sieben Punkten Vorsprung auf den Relegationsplatz aber weiterhin verhältnismäßig angenehm.

Aber er weiß natürlich, was alles zusammenkommen muss, damit die schier übermächtigen Münchener tatsächlich überrumpelt werden können. „Du brauchst einen guten Tag, musst über deine Leistungsgrenze hinausgehen“, zählt der 42-Jährige auf. „Du musst mutig spielen und dir etwas zutrauen – dann kannst du auch die Bayern schlagen.“

Beim Branchenprimus lief bekanntlich zuletzt nicht alles rund. Es gab das Aus im DFB-Pokal, später auch in der Champions League. Vorher war der Trainer schon getauscht worden, statt Julian Nagelsmann hat inzwischen Thomas Tuchel das Kommando. In der Liga gab es zwar zuletzt einen 2:0-Erfolg gegen Schlusslicht Hertha BSC, doch zuvor zeigte der FC Bayern München Schwächen gegen die TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (1:1) und den FSV Mainz 05 (1:3). Bietet der Spitzenreiter aktuell also tatsächlich etwas mehr Angriffsfläche als sonst? „Es ist immer schwierig, wenn man bei solch einer Mannschaft über Schwächen spricht“, betont Ole Werner. „Wenn wir darüber sprechen, dass sie in Mainz verloren haben, dann gehört zur Wahrheit auch dazu, dass sie nach einer halben Stunde eigentlich 3:0 oder 4:0 hätten führen müssen. Ähnlich war es gegen Hoffenheim. Wir werden auch darauf angewiesen sein, dass der Gegner nicht seinen effektivsten Tag hat. Aber dafür werden wir auch etwas tun müssen“, so der Trainer des SV Werder Bremen.

Die Null zu halten, erscheint da fast ausgeschlossen. „Es ist möglich, aber nicht einfach“, weiß Werner, der in diesem Zusammenhang abermals auf die Grundtugenden des Fußballs hinweist. Damit es vielleicht tatsächlich etwas wird mit einem in positiver Hinsicht besonderen Spiel gegen den großen FC Bayern München. „Ich erinnere mich an Pokalfinals zwischen beiden Vereinen und auch daran, dass Werder mal in München die Meisterschale gewonnen“, sagt er. „Aber das ist sehr lange her.“ Letzteres sogar satte 19 Jahre, um genau zu sein.
