David Alaba wants Real Madrid to win the next Champions League title
For the third time in a row, the German record champions will only be spectators when the best teams in Europe compete for the trophy in the final phase. This year, Manchester City reached the quarter-finals (0-3, 1-1).
Pep Guardiola's team will now face defending champions Real Madrid. There in the team: David Alaba. The 30-year-old has already won the title in the premier class three times – and wants to lift the CL trophy again this year.

"Real Madrid and the Champions League simply have a special relationship" – Former FCB star Alaba
"Real Madrid and the Champions League simply have a special relationship, I think," said the former FC Bayern star in an interview with tz, where he also reveals the secret of the Royals' success: "We play with a lot of self-confidence and believe in ourselves and in success until the last second in every game. And we have an extremely high quality in our squad."
Under his current coach Carlo Ancelotti, Alaba also played in Munich. There, however, the Italian had to leave prematurely. Nevertheless, the left-footer is full of praise. "He also worked in Munich, we also showed strong football there and celebrated successes," said Alaba: "He is one of the greatest coaches of all time and also brings a very special experience and has human values and character traits that are very special and important."

But even with the ex-Chelsea coach, Bayern were eliminated from the DFB Cup and the Champions League. Nevertheless, Alaba sees a promising future for his former club. "He (Tuchel, editor's note) started in the hot phase of the season and had several difficult games ahead of him," the Austrian assesses the situation: "But I'm sure that Thomas Tuchel and Bayern are an extremely strong combination."

Despite the three CL titles and the countless championships and cup victories with Madrid and FC Bayern, Alaba is still full of motivation. "As long as I play football, I won't stop having big goals," the Real star reveals: "I want to win every title every season, it's as simple as that. And, of course, I will do everything I can to achieve all our goals with Austria as well."
Alaba moved from FC Bayern to Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 – unfortunately free of charge from the Munich club's point of view. Since the departure of the former defensive chief, Säbener Straße has been looking for a replacement.
