He arrived at 18:30 p.m., accompanied by his wife Antonella Roccuzzo. Lionel Messi is present at the Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony, held this Monday evening in Paris.
The Argentine is nominated for the Sportsman of the Year award, alongside his teammate Kylian Mbappé, tennis player Rafael Nadal, F1 driver Max Verstappen - crowned in 2022 -, NBA champion basketball player Stephen Curry and pole vaulter Armand Duplantis, who improved his close world record by crossing a bar at 6.22m last February in Auvergne. Messi has already won this award in 2020, tied with Lewis Hamilton. This was a first for a football player in this category.

The Laureus Awards have been presented since 2000, and are being held in Paris for the first time this year. The winner of the title of best sportsman of the year will be announced in the evening, as well as that of seven other winners. Among the award-winning categories, we find in particular that of the sportswoman of the year, the team of the year, where the rugby France team, the revelation of the year or the "comeback" of the year is named.
Suspended by the club of the capital, for having gone to Saudi Arabia at the beginning of last week, without the agreement of his leaders, Messi also found his teammates in training this Monday morning.
