Unterhaching - It was a struggle until the last day, but yesterday everyone involved was able to look at the new season quite relaxed: SpVgg Unterhaching received the license for the third division without conditions.

The budget is the lowest in history.

And: There is finally a new main sponsor.

Unterhaching – The club bosses were silent about who that is yesterday.

The new partner, who will take over the stadium name and the chest that has been orphaned on the jerseys for two years, is not to be presented until July.

“At prices in line with the market”, as President Manfred Schwabl assured, but far away from the amounts last paid by Generali (around one million).

"Those times are over," says Schwabl, who is looking forward to a long-term cooperation: "It had to fit, and now we've found what we were looking for." The insurance group "SwissLife" remains the main sponsor of the youth department.

The main sonsor's contribution, which can now be booked, was "a clear step forward" in the struggle for licensing, as Schwabl confirmed, but not the only one.

Also thanks to the individual donation of an unnamed sponsor in the amount of 150,000 euros, which ultimately compensates for the loss of income due to missing out on the DFB Cup, "the breakthrough was made in the end", reported Treasurer Robert Perchtold.

Haching starts the season with a budget of just 3.8 million euros, which may fall below 3.5 million.

Half of these are costs for the youth sector, i.e. also for the new youth academy, for which the SpVgg will shortly receive official approval from the DFB.

According to Perchtold, the professional sector earns itself, but subsidizes the youth - for now.

Because the new, further developed concept of the substructure should generate transfer proceeds in the future.

So new players will come to Unterhaching for the perspective, not for the money.

With just under a million per season for the salaries of the third division team, the SpVgg is in the lowest range of professional football in Germany.

"You'd be amazed at the salary players play here," the treasurer noted.

No reason for concern for President Manfred Schwabl, especially in view of the massive financial problems of a number of competitors and the blatant increase in the number of license refusals and insolvencies this year: "When I hear the signals from the third division, I'm happier every day that we decided to go down this path.”
