Recap: Maccabi Haifa vs Maccabi Tel Aviv 1:3 (Sport1)
The violence on the soccer fields doesn't stop. The separation net that tried to separate Maccabi Haifa fans from Maccabi Tel Aviv during Monday night's game worked overtime in the face of throwing flares and firing fireworks by green fans at the visiting crowd. Maccabi Tel Aviv fans also fired fireworks in response, uprooting chairs and throwing them at the green crowd.
Maccabi Tel Aviv responded to the events tonight: "In May of last season we arrived at the Sammy Ofer Stadium and warned that Maccabi Tel Aviv fans had been seated in the stands next to Haifa fans and miraculously disaster was averted after avocados, smoke grenades and objects were thrown at them from the nearby stand that was populated by Haifa fans. A year passed and again in those stands our fans experienced a barrage of flares and fireworks thrown at them when luckily a major disaster was averted. Not anymore! We expect all parties without exception to address this issue with the utmost severity. Just as the Tel Aviv Police does not allow seating arrangements of this kind at Bloomfield Stadium, Maccabi Tel Aviv Football Club expects other stadiums to act accordingly as well. We won't let our fans experience it again even if it means we won't withdraw tickets and our fans won't come, we won't let it happen a third time."

Maccabi Haifa's response to the incidents: "This is a complex incident for security. We have argued in the past, and continue to argue today, that sitting two audiences hostile to each other, side by side, is dangerous. We invested hundreds of thousands of shekels and prevented harm to people! By the way, it is worth noting that Maccabi Tel Aviv fans also threw flares and fireworks at the green crowd and quite a bit! The early preparations, the investment, prevented disaster. At the same time, we will review the security videos, locate the perpetrators and make sure to keep them away from Sami Ofer."

The reaction of the Maccabi Tel Aviv volleyball team
As you may recall, entry to the northern stand of Haifa's municipal stadium was allowed only to women and children, following a penalty imposed on the host team, but there too flares were lit in the opening minute of the game, along with the other stands.
Maccabi Tel Aviv's volleyball team also tweeted this evening: "When our fans threw flares to the parquet at a European game, it was headlines in the media. Today, when dozens of flares and fireworks were thrown at Maccabi fans in Haifa from a range of a few meters, the media was screaming. We understand that the media cares more about parquet in Hadar Yosef than it cares about human life."
Before the game, police announced that they had arrested three fans outside the stadium after a search found assault weapons and powders on them.
