Austrian ski racer Ramona Siebenhofer declares her retirement from World Cup sport and reveals her future profession.
Vienna - The wave of resignations in winter sports continues. Now an Austrian ski racer has declared the end of her career. Ramona Siebenhofer puts the skis in the corner, leaving a big gap in the ÖSV speed team. Shortly after the end of the season, there were rumours that the 31-year-old would announce her retirement. "It's in the room, yes. But I definitely haven't made a decision yet," she told Kronen Zeitung at the time.

Less than two months later, however, the decision has been made. "I am now looking forward to a new chapter in my life," says Siebenhofer. "I have the privilege of having turned my passion and hobby into a profession. But now it's time to say goodbye to the Ski World Cup and that's not a "goodbye", but a "goodbye". Already at the end of last season, I realized that I was no longer risking everything to be at the front," she said in a video on her Instagram account.
"Besides, I'm no longer willing to subordinate everything to skiing. That's why today I say "Pfiat eich" and a very big thank you to my family and my boyfriend, who made skiing possible for me. Thanks to all sponsors, suppliers and partners who have supported me. Thank you to all colleagues, coaches and supervisors, as well as the entire ÖSV team, without whom these successes would not have been possible," the 31-year-old continued.

Ramona Siebenhofer made her World Cup debut in December 2009. The highlight of her career was the 2018/19 season, in which she celebrated a double victory in the downhill of Cortina d'Ampezzo. A total of seven podium finishes are on her CV, all in the speed disciplines. At the 2023 World Championships in Méribel/Courchevel, she narrowly missed out on her first medal. In the combined, she finished fourth after both disciplines.

It is also known how things will continue in the future with Ramona Siebenhofer, the 31-year-old is moving from the ski slope to the police full-time. "It will be an important addition for us in the police. Ramona has played an important role in the women's team over the years," confirmed ÖSV President Roswitha Stadlober.
"She will continue to pursue her path with determination - and who knows where this path will lead," Interior Minister Gerhard Karner told the Austrian daily Kurier. She will start her service as a police officer in the Austrian city of Murau from the middle of the year. (smr
