Recap: Maccabi Haifa vs Maccabi Tel Aviv 1:3 (Sport1)
Barak Yitzhaki resigned from Maccabi Tel Aviv. Mitch Goldhar wasn't done and no one at the club had hinted to him that he should take that step before being shown the door out. It was his decision and very few people knew about what was going on in his head but also in his stomach.
The past few months have been difficult for Yitzhaki. The pressure from the crowd, most of whom demanded his head, really hurt him. He felt compelled to take the plunge and leave, even though his close friend Ben Mansford arrived in Israel this week and there was no problem with the two of them working together from now on. On Wednesday morning, Yitzhaki held work meetings for next season with Mansford and Jack Angelides. Even after the announcement, the three of them continued to sit for meetings with various officials who came to Kiryat Shalom and the offices near Bloomfield.

His decision fell out of the blue on many at the club who were not privy to his doubts, and neither did coach Aitor Karanka and the players know anything about it. Yitzhaki decided to leave because he felt that all the arrows were directed at him last season and the situation was too difficult for him. He did not want to continue being the man labeled by the fans as the "bad guy" at the club, so he decided to take the brave step of leaving.
After the announcement, Eran Zahavi also said goodbye to Yitzhaki, writing on Instagram: "Thank you for everything and good luck down the road, know that you went through a difficult time and hope that you will embark on a new path stronger."
