Kick-off of the Ice Hockey World Championship: Germany at the start against Sweden
The dress rehearsal on Tuesday in Munich was a failure, the DEB team lost 3-6 to the USA. Now the German skaters want to do better against Sweden, if it counts. With a new national coach on the bench.
"We're certainly not going to hide," said Harold Kreis before the first World Cup match. For the 64-year-old, it is the first World Cup as a full-time head coach. In 2010, the German-Canadian was assistant coach to Uwe Krupp when the German team reached the semi-finals. "There's a bit of excitement already. We just want to get started," says Kreis.

DEB team threatens horror hat-trick: NHL star Seider remains calm
Captain Moritz Müller attaches only a subordinate role to the difficult start. "For me, the reaction to the game is more important than the game itself. No matter how it turns out," Müller said. "If we win it, we still have to beat the others. And if we lose, even more so. We can't get too high or too low."
