Exposure of "Israel Hayom": A day of celebration for Paralympic sports in Israel, after the Wingate Institute granted it the status of a national home for the activities of the national teams. The decision will provide significant economic benefits to the teams that use the Institute's facilities.
Shai Avrahami, Wingate's CEO, said, "The activities of the disabled are an integral part of the Institute's activities. I expect that after we have lowered the economic barrier, the scope of activity of Paralympic athletes here will expand." From now on, many costs of this activity will be subsidized by about 50%.
It should be noted that the Paralympic Sports Association is a body that incorporates under it the management of all Paralympic sports, and it manages all competitive and achievement sports activities in these sports. In addition, the IFA is responsible for athletes from the moment they are located, through their nurturing and up to their management in the Israeli national teams and representation in international competitions.
The Paralympic swimming team, the Israeli wheelchair basketball team and Paralympic athletes are already training at the Institute. The status of the National Home will allow for much greater use of the facilities, and will result in a significant improvement in athletes' performance and achievements.
Eli Birnbaum, Chairman of the Paralympic Committee: "We are very pleased with the announcement of the status of a national home for Paralympic Sports at the Wingate Institute." Chairman of the Association for Disabled Sports, CPA Ehud Ratzabi, added: "This is a very important step for us. I have no doubt that such a move will benefit our athletes and coaches, who will benefit from quality infrastructure and a professional framework at the level of the National Institute for Sports Excellence. All this will lead to even greater motivation and achievements."
