SE Freising visits resurgent FC Schwaig – Bittner expects "an absolute battle game"

2023-05-12T05:19:46.949Z

Highlights: SE Freising could be relegated from the Landesliga Südost at the weekend. ASV Dachau is already ahead with three points and has already won the direct comparison. SEF coach Florian Bittner: "As long as something is mathematically possible, we believe in it" If the yellow-blacks lose tonight (19.30 CET) in Schwaig, it would be the first relegation since the introduction of the five-pronged Landesligas.

The relegation of SE Freising from the Landesliga could become a reality at the weekend. A defeat and a victory for ASV Dachau would seal it.

Freising – What's the saying? Those who are declared dead often live longer. And it is precisely this proverb that SE Freising is currently clinging to. There are still three games to be played in the Landesliga Südost, in which SEF still has the chance to at least save itself in the relegation relegation – provided that other clubs provide support. ASV Dachau is already ahead with three points and has already won the direct comparison. If the yellow-blacks lose tonight (19.30 CET) in Schwaig and Dachau wins on Saturday at home against Holzkirchen, the direct relegation is fixed.

Bittner: "As long as something is mathematically possible, we believe in it"

And yet, the Lerchenfelder cling to the last straw to avoid going to the Bezirksliga – it would be the first relegation since the introduction of the five-pronged Landesliga and the first since the departure from the former Landesliga Süd in the 2006/07 season. "As long as something is mathematically possible, we believe in it," says coach Florian Bittner. It reacts just as calmly to small background noises. The coach corrected a quote in the preview of the Grünwald game, according to which the personnel talks at SEF had been conducted too late in recent years: Only in the pre-season, after the farewell of coach Alexander Plabst was confirmed, had been negotiated too late with the players. "That's what I meant," Bittner clarifies.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Now to the essentials: The game preparation left the coach almost a little speechless. Because instead of hanging his head, the SEF coach could hardly slow down his team in training. There was a brutal move in it, Bittner reports, "and also a high degree of discipline." That hasn't always been the case this season. Except for the long-term injured, everyone was there - and wanted to present themselves for the match in Schwaig. So with which eleven will Bittner try to keep the relegation chances? "It's going to be a mix," he promises, between the technically best players, but also those who bring the most motivation. "At least in training this week, everyone showed character." But: "It's not a nice constellation for a coach if everyone really wants to."

FC Schwaig around ex-SEF striker Benjamin Held strong after the winter break

Assistant coach Michael Schmid will again be absent, and the duel comes too early for Bittner himself. Sebastian Thalhammer, who recently had to be replaced due to injury, is also questionable.

The Schwaiger, coached by ex-SEF striker Benjamin Held, have climbed from the relegation zone to secure midfield after the winter break. "Because we absolutely have to win, it could be an absolute fighting game," Bittner suspects. Held watched the SEF at the match in Dachau. Positive: The coach didn't really get to see much of his then frighteningly weak former club. It can only get better. Those who are declared dead sometimes live longer.

List:

Trost – Aiteniora, Mayr, Kleidorfer, Rist – Thalhammer, Fischer – Rudzki, Tiric, Chr. Schmuckermeier – Günzel.
