Munich – Despite being only 35 years old, Julian Nagelsmann has already spent several years as a professional coach. After stints at TSG Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig, he moved to Munich to FC Bayern in 2021. After his dismissal in March of this year, it is now clear that the coach will not add Tottenham Hotspur to his coaching vita. According to several media outlets, the Londoners have cancelled it – with consequences for Bayern.

Tottenham desperately looking for a new coach – Nagelsmann long candidate

The coaching position at the "Spurs" is vacant for the coming season, after the previous head coach Antonio Conte was dismissed in March. In the meantime, ex-Tottenham player Ryan Mason is in charge of the sidelines – but only on an interim basis.

That's why those responsible for the Londoners have been eagerly looking for a top coach to succeed Conte ever since. In terms of sport, they lag behind their own demands. They will almost certainly miss out on Champions League qualification, and now they have to fight for a place in the Europa League shortly before the end of the season as sixth in the Premier League.

In recent weeks, Nagelsmann had been repeatedly brought into play as the new Tottenham coach. Ex-national goalkeeper René Adler recently clearly recommended the former Bayern coach to join the English top club.

Consistent media reports: Ex-Bayern coach Nagelsmann does not go to Tottenham

However, it is now clear that he will not succeed Conte and Mason as coach of the "Spurs". As several English media report unanimously, those responsible for the North Londoners refrain from signing the German coach. It is not known why.

Tottenham had already approached the 35-year-old immediately after his release from Bayern and had wanted to sign him. However, Nagelsmann cancelled the "Spurs" at the time. Ralf Rangnick also advised him to move to the team of star striker Harry Kane. However, Nagelsmann left a decision about his future open until the end. This apparently did not convince those responsible at Tottenham, so they are now looking for another coach.

Will FC Bayern be stuck with ex-coaches? Nagelsmann still on payroll

For FC Bayern, on the other hand, this means that Nagelsmann is still under contract in Munich – and he is therefore also on the payroll. Bayern boss OIiver Kahn revealed that Nagelsmann's salary was decreasing from year to year. Nevertheless, it can only be in the interest of the record champions to remove the ex-coach, whose contract is dated until 2026, from the pool of earners as soon as possible.

Therefore, from Munich's point of view, it is to be hoped that another club will make an effort to sign the 35-year-old in the near future. Another former champion coach of Bayern, Felix Magath, recently criticized Nagelsmann clearly. (wuc)
