After finishing second in the 2022/2023 Doubles World Cup, luger Patrick Pigneter has reached another milestone: The South Tyrolean has said "yes".
Saalen – It is not only on the natural track that everything has gone smoothly for luger Patrick Pigneter in recent years. Last weekend, the winter sports ace swapped his racing suit for a jacket and bow tie and, together with his partner Claudia Boito, popped the corks as a newlywed couple.

Wedding in South Tyrol: tobogganing friends and family celebrate their dream couple
According to the portal sportnews.bz, the couple tied the knot in the pilgrimage church of Maria Saalen (South Tyrol) to the applause of family, friends and also from many fellow athletes. His tobogganing colleagues stretched their sleds up as an alley when they left the church, through which the bride and groom walked beaming with joy.
Patrick Pigneter, nicknamed "Pigi", is considered one of the most successful athletes in South Tyrol. Just like his father Raimund, the 35-year-old is a natural track luger, and with extraordinary success: Even in his youth, "Pigi" collected one title after another and crowned his successful career in the adult category with currently 104 World Cup victories. Together with his doubles partner Florian Clara, the exceptional athlete won the silver medal at the last World Championships in Deutschnofen (Italy).

Tobogganer Pigneter: Christmas market becomes a place of destiny
The couple's journey together began at the Bruneck Christmas market in the winter of 2020. Three years later, the wedding followed. Although Claudia Boito is not at home in competitive sports, both like to go hiking and cycling. At the 2875-metre-high Peitlerkofel in the Dolomites, Patrick finally asked the question of all questions in October 2021. With a happy ending.
After saying "I do" at the wedding, it's time for a honeymoon. In addition to Pigneter, other winter sports stars have already married this year. Ski jumper Katharina Schmid (née Althaus) has been married to Patrick Schmid, the brother of Nordic combined athlete Julian Schmid, since the beginning of May. (likr)
