Winger Wiegert leaves Olching in the direction of Pipinsried - "That hurts"

Highlights: Benedikt Wiegert is leaving SC Olching for FC Pipinsried in the Regionalliga. The 21-year-old scored 16 goals in 56 games for Olching in the Landesliga. The team from the Dachau hinterland wants to make a fresh start in the Bayernliga. "I really like the move to be more regional and closer to the fans again," says the winger. The club's head of department, Peter Helfer, does not want to give up hope that he will play for them again.

Olching's offensive player Benedikt Wiegert dares to take the step to the Regionalliga relegated Pipinsried after a strong second half of the season in the Landesliga.

Olching – While SC Olching is still fighting for the last necessary points to stay in the Landesliga, one SCO player already knows exactly which league he will play in next season: Benedikt Wiegert is moving to the regional league club FC Pipinsried, which has already been relegated.

The team from the Dachau hinterland wants to make a fresh start in the Bayernliga in the coming season and return to its roots as a village club. A concept that also convinced the 21-year-old Wiegert. "I really like the move to be more regional and closer to the fans again," says Wiegert. "Since I myself grew up in a similarly small town near Fürstenfeldbruck, the village character of the club suits me perfectly."

16 goals in 56 Landesliga games for SC Olching

The Olching winger flourished especially in the second half of the season and, with his five goals, played a significant role in the Amperstadt team remaining unbeaten throughout March and subsequently beating Durach and Gilching. In total, Wiegert made 56 appearances in the Landesliga in his three years at SCO, scoring 16 goals.

Olching's head of department, Peter Helfer, reacted accordingly wistfully to the departure of the 21-year-old. "It hurts." For the old hand in the football business, however, this does not come as a surprise. "At the end of the day, we're a training club." When a player moves to a higher league, it's always a sign that you're doing something right.

"Bene is an Olchinger and will always remain an Olchinger"

For helpers, however, it was also clear that they did not want to put any obstacles in Wiegert's way. And the football boss does not want to give up hope that the 21-year-old will put on the Olching jersey again at some point. "If things don't work out at Pipinsried, he's always welcome here. Bene is an Olchinger and will always remain an Olchinger."

Because Sebastian Heiß is another offensive player leaving the Amperstadt team after the season, the search for reinforcements for the attacking line is now starting for helpers. An undertaking that would become much easier if they finally made it possible to stay in the league. "We have to do our homework now," says Helfer. (Thomas Benedikt)
