Torrential rains led to flooding in northern Italy, including the town of Imola where the Grand Prix was to be held. The various teams had to evacuate the scene. "It is not possible to guarantee safety for our fans, teams and staff," said Formula 1, which did not want to "put more pressure on local authorities and emergency services in these difficult times".
No information has been communicated about a possible postponement, or a possible removal of the Grand Prix from the 2023 calendar. The drivers are expected the following weekend in Monaco, then the following weekend in Barcelona for the Spanish Grand Prix.
