Newer? Summer? Nübel? Bayern's goalkeeper future apparently sealed

Manuel Neuer, Yann Sommer, Alexander Nübel, Sven Ulreich: Insider information sheds light on Bayern's plans for the coming season.

Munich - The position of the goalkeeper probably decided the season for FC Bayern Munich in several ways. Not only was the huge row over keeper coach Toni Tapalovic and finally his dismissal the beginning of the end of ex-coach Julian Nagelsmann, who was replaced by Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel then missed all of the season's goals - almost. Because Tuchel can still become champion, to a good extent, because the keeper of the competition, Gregor Kobel of BVB, afforded himself a momentous buck in a direct comparison. In the Champions League, as well as in some other appearances in the league, Yann Sommer, the replacement signed for the injured Manuel Neuer, did not cut a good figure at all.

FC Bayern: Neuer to become regular goalkeeper again, summer to leave

Neuer stands like no other for the astronomical championship series of ten titles in a row. This year, too, despite his skiing accident and long-term absence, it could be enough for the championship with a bang. But what happens after that? Kicker reporter Georg Holzner has probably picked up insider information, which he has now shared with the public. Accordingly, the plan should be in place as far as Neuer, Sommer, Monaco loanee Alexander Nübel and permanent bench presser Sven Ulreich are concerned.

For Neuer, who at the age of 37 is in the autumn of his career but still capable of top performances for a goalkeeper, nothing less than a permanent return between the posts of FCB is therefore being considered. Neuer is making progress, is back on the pitch and is fully on schedule in terms of health. Sommer has stood in for him solidly, but has never achieved Neuer's genius, which should make the difference more often in the coming season.

Nübel is no longer designated as number 1 even in Monaco

Sommer, on the other hand, will probably leave Bayern. He needs a perspective as a regular player in order to play his way into the spotlight for the Swiss national team. According to the information, this will not offer the former Gladbach Bavarian. Alexander Nübel also has no future in Munich. The 26-year-old is no longer the number 1 candidate for the goalkeeper position, even with the Mongeases. Especially since Nübel's credo has not changed: As long as Neuer plays in Munich, he does not want to return under any circumstances.

All that remains is the well-known working constellation: Neuer as number 1, Ulreich as a reliable backup. The Schorndorf native is also already 34, but his seven championships so far as a new representative speak volumes. So much has changed recently at the Reds: As long as this pair guards the goal, you obviously feel much more comfortable there. (cgsc)
