This is a consolation prize for Gabrielle Vernier. After a Six Nations Tournament finished in second place behind England, the centre of the France team received the trophy of best player of the competition. It was Audrey Forlani, her teammate in club (Blagnac) and selection, who presented her with the distinction.

Gabrielle Vernier, 38 caps, takes over from Laure Sansus who was rewarded last year. "Winning the trophy for the best player of the tournament is a huge honour, but it also belongs to all my teammates, because our campaign this year was a collective effort," she said.
With nearly 40% of the vote, she is ahead of England's Marlie Packer and Holly Aitchison, as well as Welshwoman Sisilia Tuipulotu. The centre is the only French player to have played all five matches of the competition. She scored five tries, with only England's Marlie Packer (7) and Abbie Dow (6) scoring more.
