Who will be the German champion? Sky pundit Didi Hamann continues to rely on BVB – and at the same time criticises Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel.
Munich – The Bundesliga is entering the home stretch! And rarely has the final spurt in Germany's top flight been as exciting as it was in May 2023. After ten championships in a row, FC Bayern Munich could come away empty-handed again this year. At least according to Didi Hamann.

Didi Hamann backs Borussia Dortmund in the championship race
In the thrilling title race, the former international is counting on Borussia Dortmund, who are currently one point behind Bayern. "If BVB wins their last two games, they will be German champions. I'm convinced of that," the 49-year-old wrote in his column for the Sky TV channel: "I see BVB as champions."
Hamann had already predicted the Bundesliga final weeks ago and had already decided at that time that there would be a black and yellow championship celebration. The former midfielder was partly wrong with the exact results, but there are still two games to go.

Leipzig as a stumbling block for FC Bayern? Hamann predicted a 2-2 draw weeks ago
And one of them, namely Leipzig's visit to Munich on Saturday, could be decisive. Hamann predicted a 2-2 draw here. Dortmund are guests in Augsburg on Sunday. On the last matchday, the championship contenders will face Mainz (BVB) and Cologne (FCB) at the same time. On paper, coach Thomas Tuchel's team clearly has the hardest task.
Hamann takes the Bayern coach to task anyway. Should the Munich team lose the championship and thus the last chance to win the title, "Tuchel is also at the forefront of the problem analysis," Hamann said of the coach, who has been in charge since the end of March.
Hamann with "pitiful" announcement to Bayern and Tuchel
And he goes even further: "He had a good two months, was miserably eliminated from two cup competitions in the quarter-finals and should at least win this one very important title for the club." Hamann's announcement to his former club!

The big rival from Westphalia, on the other hand, has made a lasting impression on Hamann: "Bayern have seen how confidently Dortmund have followed suit despite the pressure in the last two weeks and after a few minutes had already won the games with three goals," Hamann wrote: "That does something to FC Bayern."
According to Hamann, possible Bayern failure could also have positive effects
A defeat in the title race could also mean something positive for the record champions, said the former Bayern professional. "Because then there is nothing to sugarcoat and really every stone is turned. In the end, it usually results in something really good."
In terms of transfers, something is likely to happen with the Munich team anyway. Maybe there will be reinforcements for FC Bayern with an England favourite? (akl/dpa)
