The district bowling championship offered exciting competitions. From the district's point of view, it was extremely pleasing - and not least for Schwarz-Gelb Schongau.

Schongau – Things are going very well for Schwarz-Gelb Schongau at the individual championships this season. At the end of the title fights at district level, there were two more gold medals. Gut Holz Eberfing and FC Seeshaupt also had reason to celebrate.

Marcus Wolf continues his good streak in the championships

Marcus Wolf's victory did not come as a complete surprise. The bowler of Schwarz-Gelb Schongau had already delivered reliably good results during the Bayernliga season, even if he could not prevent his team's relegation in the end. Wolf played all 18 games and scored 13 team points – a strong figure. Only five players were better than him in this statistic. And he had also already shone in the individual championship: Wolf won the district preliminary decision in the individual, and in the sprint, the Schongauer won bronze at the Upper Bavaria level.

With the victory in the individual at the district championship, Wolf now collected his third medal. In the final tournament, held on his home track in Schongau, the Black and Yellow player clearly prevailed with 13 set points and 604 wood in the end. However, the decision was made late. After two rounds, Wolf and his competitors, Manuel Brosig (SKV Waldkraiburg), Hubert Resch (Gut Holz Eberfing) and Christoph Sporer (Schwarz Gelb-Schongau), had all collected five set points.

Before the last set, everyone had a chance to win the title. In the fourth round, Wolf achieved the best result with 154 wood and scored another four set points. Resch had to settle for 136 wood and one set point, so he fell back to bronze place (9 points/566 wood). Brosig secured the silver medal with 153 wood and three points (10 points/596 wood).

A total of 16 men from the district competed, who determined the four participants for the final tournament (the following day in Schongau) in a qualification and a knockout phase (each played in Weilheim). With his victory, Marcus Wolf has qualified for the Bavarian Championship, which will take place on Saturday, May 20, in Munich.

Florian Aderbauer wins the juniors with a strong finish

After his victory in the Zugspitze district, Florian Aderbauer (Gut Holz Eberfing) also triumphed in the district championship. In a highly exciting duel, he prevailed against Julian Rettenbacher (SKV Waldkraiburg).

The last set decided gold and silver. When it came down to it, Aderbauer delivered an excellent performance with 151 wood and made the title perfect with a total score of 15 points (529 wood). Rettenbacher only got 115 wood in the last round – he had 13 set points (486 wood). Bronze went to Florian Warter (8 points/425 wood) from SV-DJK Kolbermoor.

Sibling duel in the junior women's competition

In the district preliminary decision in the Zugspitze district, Regina Resch had to bow to her sister Ramona Resch. But now, at the level of Upper Bavaria, the bowler of Schwarz-Gelb Schongau was unstoppable. With the optimum of 16 set points and a strong 583 wood (210 in clearing), the Paterzeller secured the gold medal. On top of that, there was the ticket for the Bavarian championship next Saturday, May 20, in Munich.

By the way: Everything from the region can also be found in our regular Schongau newsletter. And in our Weilheim-Penzberg newsletter.

In the first two sets, Regina Resch had only a few wooden lead over Ramona Resch (playing for FC Seeshaupt). But then she moved away. The result of Ramona Resch (12 set points/560 wood) was also impressive; she won silver ahead of Anna Steinbrecher (8 points/495 wood) from SKC Oberau.

This is how a final tournament works

In singles, medals have been played out in a final round at championships for several years. Up to four players will compete – they have previously prevailed in a qualifier and subsequent knockout rounds.
The game is played on four lanes in 120 throw mode (4 x 30). After each sentence is settled. The player with the highest number of wood gets four set points. The others get (descending) three and two set points as well as one set point. If players are tied in a round, the remaining points are added up and divided by the number of players with the same points. At the end of the four rounds, the winner is the one with the highest number of set points. In the event of a tie, the higher total number of wood decides.

In the women's category, the Chiemgau district dominates

When the medals were awarded, the women from the Zugspitze district were left out. The final tournament of the best four was contested exclusively by bowlers from the Chiemgau district. Ramona Wasmeier (SKV Mehring), who had already won the district title in the sprint this year, narrowly prevailed with 13 set points against Magdalena Siferlinger (12.5) from SKK Bad Endorf. Bronze went to Sabrina Kießlich (8.5) from Wacker Burghausen.

Two players from the Zugspitze bowling circle had a chance of reaching the final tournament: Stefanie Schiegg (TSV Peißenberg) and Michaela Sepp (Frischauf Weilheim) lost their knockout duels with 0:4 sets each. Schiegg had won the qualifying round with 516 wood, which was played like the semi-finals in Schongau. The final tournament of the best four took place in Waldkraiburg.
