90. + 7 min: The Romans clarify every situation, Leverkusen just can't get through the defensive bulwark of Mourinho's protégés today.

90. + 5 min: In the last few minutes, Leverkusen lack chances, more than half of the injury time is already over.

90. + 1 minute: The injury time is eight minutes. Will Leverkusen still be able to pull off the small miracle here or will Roma make it to the final?

Bayer Leverkusen vs AS Roma live ticker: Bayer 04 desperate for Patricio

89th minute: Incidentally, the score in the parallel match between Sevilla and Juventus is 1-1, so the second semi-final second leg in Andalusia will probably go into extra time.

88th minute: The final minutes are running at the BayArena. However, the injury time is likely to be long.

85th minute: Frimpong tries now, but his shot is blocked and does not cause any problems for Patricio. Leverkusen are now throwing everything forward.

82nd minute: Azmoun misses the best chance of the second half! It warps from a central position by half a meter. And at the same time, the next Roman is on the ground, the Italians have been playing massively for time here for a few minutes.

80th minute: Alonso brings in Adam Hlozek as the next striker, but Exequiel Palacios leaves the field.

79th minute: The next chance! A long-range shot from Tah is deflected to the corner!

75th minute: Good chance for Leverkusen! Azmoun finishes, but the angle is just too acute after a Diaby cross.

73rd minute: Leverkusen make offensive changes: Adli comes on for Bakker

71st minute: Bakker sees yellow after a frustrating action, he had first pushed Matic and then knocked the ball away. The Roman Ibanez also sees the yellow cardboard box because of complaining.

68th minute: Demirbay again! The midfielder again checks Patricio, who holds the ball. Azmoun is unable to convert the rebound. However, Leverkusen are sticking to it.

67th minute: Azmouns tries with his head and fails to get past Rui Patricio. In the parallel match, Juventus takes the lead in Seville! With the final score of 1-0, the northern Italians would be in the final.

Bayer Leverkusen vs AS Roma live today: Werkself are getting better again

61st minute: After a foul by Cristante on Wirtz, there is a free kick from a good position. Demirbay brings it in, but his cross finds no taker.

59th minute: The game gets more and more hectic, the second half is marked by many interruptions. Leverkusen should not go into the games of the Romans at this stage of the game.

Bayer Leverkusen vs AS Roma live ticker: The game will be tougher

56th minute: Now things are getting rougher, Palacios sees the yellow card after a hard boarding against Matic.

Bayer Leverkusen vs AS Roma live today: Goalless draw at half-time

Half time: After three minutes of injury time and a yellow card for Hincapié, the first half is over, with 0-0 the two teams go into the dressing room. In the first half, Leverkusen were clearly the better team, but did not manage to take advantage of the many opportunities. Kerem Demirbay and Florian Wirtz in particular were conspicuous. Not much comes from Rome, but the Italians lead 1-0 across the board due to the first leg. The second semi-final between Sevilla and Juventus is also still 0-0.

45th minute: The last minute of the first half is underway, but the ball doesn't want to go in yet. After a strong solo, Demirbay tries again from the second row, but his shot goes wide of the box.

41st minute: Now Witz misses the chance. First, a pass from the 20-year-old doesn't really get through, in the second attempt the international looks for Azmoun with a cross, but the Iranian misses the ball. Before that, however, he is said to have fouled his opponent, so the scene would probably have been whistled off anyway.

37th minute: Rui Patricio is in demand again, as Leverkusen keep trying. This time it's Azmoun who plucks up the courage after a pass from Wirtz from outside the penalty area. However, the Portuguese keeper is on guard again.

35th minute: Leverkusen are on the ball, but have to interrupt the action. The reason: Leonardo Spinazzola sits down on the floor. In fact, he has to leave the pitch battered, Nicola Zalewski comes into play for him.

25th minute: Leverkusen continue to do well and have already scored six goals after 25 minutes, this time Palacios tries it from distance. But something countable has not yet been avoided.

22nd minute: And again the eye-catching Demirbay! He tries it with his left from eighteen yards during a period of pressure from Leverkusen, but Rui Patricio is back on the spot and clears to the corner.

17th minute: The Italians are pushing forward again, but after Pelegrini's approach to goal at the beginning of the game, not much came from the capitals.

Bayer Leverkusen vs AS Roma live today: Diaby has the best chance for the Werkself

14th minute: Leverkusen counter strongly! Azmoun sends Diaby steeply on the right side, who can be pushed a bit to the outside, but still finishes - and how! The winger only hits the crossbar, lucky for Roma.

11th minute: Wirtz drives the ball forward, pulls several opponents towards him and puts the ball over to Diaby. The Frenchman's finish fails completely, but the direction is right for the hosts.

8th minute: And the first try for Leverkusen. After a nice cross pass to Frimpong, he takes Demirbay with him, but the two-time international cannot lure Rui Patricio out of his reserve with his central shot.

6th minute: In the first few minutes, the home team didn't really get going, but the crowd was there and cheered on the Werkself with loud chants.

Europa League live today: AS Roma with the first chance – Bayer Leverkusen need a win

3rd minute: The first chance of the game belongs to the guests! Abraham sees Pellegrini and the native of Rome pulls off from 20 meters. His quite dangerous attempt misses the goal a bit.

1st minute: The atmosphere is gigantic. The Leverkusen fans present a Star Wars choreography worth seeing, while the Römer Annex creates a white fog in the BayArena. But the ball is still rolling!

Update, 20:56 p.m.: Only a few minutes left until kick-off. Can Leverkusen at least make up for the deficit from the first leg in Rome? In the event of a win with a difference of one goal, the game would go into extra time.

Update, 20:45 p.m.: The clock is ticking, the tension is rising. In 15 minutes, the match between Leverkusen and AS Roma will kick off. For Leverkusen, this semi-final is a great opportunity, but Roma have some experience with such crucial games. Just last season, Mourinho's side won the UEFA Europa Conference League in the final against Feyenoord Rotterdam.

Update, 20:30 p.m.: Half an hour left until referee Slavko Vincic from Slovenia blows the whistle for the second leg of the semi-finals at the BayArena. Bayer Leverkusen have to make up for the 0-1 deficit from the first leg against AS Roma, starting at 21 p.m.

Bayer Leverkusen vs AS Roma live today: Who will advance to the final?

First reported on 18 May:
Leverkusen - The only remaining German team in all European competitions will be fighting for a place in the Europa League final on Thursday evening. Bayer Leverkusen are fighting for international places in the league, but things are going smoothly in Europe this season. Head coach Xabi Alonso's side reached the semi-finals, but lost 0-1 to AS Roma at the Stadio Olimpico last week.

Bayer Leverkusen vs AS Roma live today: Third European final for the Werkself?

So it's important for the Werkself to catch up in order to reach the third European final in the club's history. In 1988, Bayer 04 reached the final of the UEFA Cup, beating Espanyol Barcelona in two finals. In 2002, Leverkusen even played their way into the final of the Champions League during the tragic "Vizekusen" season, where they ultimately lost 1-2 to Real Madrid.

So Bayer could still win a title this year, but the Champions League has not yet been written off either. With a Europa League victory, qualification for the Champions League would be assured, and Eintracht Frankfurt reached the most important club competition in the same way last season. But for the title, Roma must first be cleared out of the way. In the final, which will be played on May 31 at Budapest's Puskás Arena, either Juventus or Sevilla FC would be waiting.

Bayer Leverkusen vs AS Roma live today: Both teams winless at the weekend

José Mourinho's team also goes into the game as slight favourites due to the first leg victory. Last weekend, however, Roma were unable to gain confidence for the important second leg, losing 0-2 to Champions League finalists Inter Milan. It was also not enough for Leverkusen to win, on Sunday the Alonso team drew 1-1 with relegation candidates VfB Stuttgart. (ajr)
