Bayer Leverkusen miss out on Europa League final: Excitement about AS Roma
Update, 23:02 p.m.: Final whistle, that's it! Bayer Leverkusen missed out on victory and thus the final of the Europa League despite a strong game against AS Roma. From the beginning, the Italians concentrated on defending, in the end José Mourinho and his team moved into the final. The Romans' style of play caused a lot of criticism, RTL commentator Marco Hagemann and expert Steffen Freund, for example, said: "I'm disappointed in Rome", "Football didn't win today" or "It's hard for me to congratulate Rome."
The final opponent is currently still being played, the game between Sevilla and Juventus went into extra time after a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.

Half time: After three minutes of injury time and a yellow card for Hincapié, the first half is over, with 0-0 the two teams go into the dressing room. In the first half, Leverkusen were clearly the better team, but did not manage to take advantage of the many opportunities. Kerem Demirbay and Florian Wirtz in particular were conspicuous. Bayer Leverkusen are fighting for international places in the league, but things are going smoothly in Europe this season. Bayer Leverkusen vs AS Roma live today: Third European final for the Werkself?
So it's important for the Werkself to catch up in order to reach the third European final in the club's history. In 1988, Bayer 04 reached the final of the UEFA Cup, beating Espanyol Barcelona in two finals. In 2002, Leverkusen even played their way into the final of the Champions League during the tragic "Vizekusen" season, where they ultimately lost 1-2 to Real Madrid.
So Bayer could still win a title this year, but the Champions League has not yet been written off either. With a Europa League victory, qualification for the Champions League would be assured, and Eintracht Frankfurt reached the most important club competition in the same way last season. But for the title, Roma must first be cleared out of the way. In the final, which will be played on May 31 at Budapest's Puskás Arena, either Juventus or Sevilla FC would be waiting.
