Should remain on the Hallbergmoos bench even in the event of relegation: Florian Brachtel (l.). © Riedel
Even after the footballing oath of revelation against Gundelfingen, Bayernliga club VfB Hallbergmoos still has the chance to avoid direct relegation.
Hallbergmoos - After the Rosenheimers were unable to close the bag in the 1-1 draw in Memmingen, they are three points ahead of VfB. For the last matchday, there is a scenario that would result in a change of place: a Hallbergmoos victory in Kottern and a defeat of the 1860s in Dachau. So this theory still leaves some hope – despite a meager 15 points in 33 games. Not to be relegated prematurely with such a record borders on a small miracle.

"Of course we would prefer to continue playing in the Bayernliga," said sporting director Anselm Küchle. "Even if it would be against relegation again next season." So he continues to plan on two tracks and also knows that the national league is now the more realistic scenario. Küchle, combined with a generational upheaval in the squad, wants to put together a team that can play at the top of the class below right from the start.
In the environment of the club, the doubts about coach Florian Brachtel are getting louder
The sometimes unspeakably bad performance of the hosts on Friday does not make the mind games any easier. In the club's environment, doubts about coach Florian Brachtel are also getting louder. The 29-year-old took over the team during the winter break, hopelessly beaten and has since had five draws and seven defeats. The sporting director understands the critical voices, but wants to remain calm and points out that the relationship between the team and the coach is intact. Küchle comes to the interim conclusion that the performance curve was ascending, also because five of the seven defeats came with only one goal difference. "We will continue in the new season with Florian Brachtel and Bastian Bornkessel," is the clear announcement of the official.
The veterans Giglberger and Kostorz say goodbye to lower-class clubs
It is also a fact that the coach lost the veterans Giglberger and Kostorz in the first game after the winter break. Both will leave the club in the summer – in the direction of lower-class clubs. This gives the young coach a real chance to form his own squad. However, the performance against Gundelfingen indicates that those responsible have a lot of work to do to form a good (Landesliga) team.
