A demonstration. Rennes has never trembled on the lawn of AC Ajaccio this Sunday (0-5) on the sidelines of the 36th matchday of Ligue 1. The Bretons were already leading by 4 goals at half-time with a cold realism, without impulsing a great rhythm. Amine Gouiri scored a last goal after the hour to score a hat-trick. Rennes, 6th, return to a point of Lille and keep the hope of snatching the famous qualifying place for the Europa League Conference.

Put under pressure by the return of Lyon and by the victory of Lille on Saturday, Rennes responded well on Sunday by going to correct Ajaccio (5-0), already relegated and at the end of the roll, and thus remains fully engaged in the race for Europe. The first results of the weekend had brought two bad news in Brittany. By beating Monaco (3-1), Lyon (7th) first showed that it had not yet quite given up its European ambitions. Then Lille dominated OM (2-1) and thus consolidated its 5th place, the last to send to Europe.
Rennes-Monaco, an explosive poster next Saturday
Rennes had no choice but to win on Sunday in Corsica. While they had lost their last three away games, Bruno Génésio's men managed to do so without difficulty and therefore remain 6th, three points ahead of Lyon and one length behind Lille. But they also came back to only three points of Monaco (4th), which they will receive Saturday during the 37th day for a match that will be very expensive.
The Gouiri Festival
After the opening score by Baptiste Santamaria (14th), the two main architects of the very large Rennes victory were Amine Gouiri and Jérémy Doku. The former Nice striker scored a hat-trick, first scoring from the head on a beautiful center of Karl Toko Ekambi (2-0, 31), then on two strikes of the right for the 4th (40th) and 5th goals (71st).
Meanwhile, Doku had scored the third goal on a superb personal feat (37th) and had not ceased to martyr Corsican defenders and midfielders, forced to multiply the faults failing to stop it legally. The Belgian winger notably caused the exclusion of Mickaël Alphonse at the hour of play, which further complicated the life of the Ajaccians, already turned to Ligue 2 and totally overwhelmed.
