"Simply amazing": Günzel's hat-trick crowns spectacular evening for Freising

2023-05-22T09:39:34.694Z

Highlights: SE Freising beat Kirchheim SC 5:2 in the Landesliga on Friday. Felix Günzel scored a hat-trick for the hosts. Alessandro Cazorla and Luka Brudtloff also scored for the visitors. Freising are still in the hunt for a place in the Bundesliga next season. The Lerchenfelder are currently 11th in the table. They have won just one of their last eight games in all competitions (D2 L3).

Hope is alive at SE Freising! Against league leader Kirchheim, the Lerchenfelder celebrated a brilliant 5:2. Relegation is therefore still an issue.

Freising - There were just 75 seconds of hand-stopped play in the stadium at the Savoyer Au, when the Landesliga funeral of SE Freising seemed to be a done deal: Captain Jonas Mayr played a catastrophic back pass to keeper Jonas Trost, the ex-Hallberg striker Alessandro Cazorla splashed in between and scored to make it 1-0 for the guests (2nd).

And then? Then Kirchheim played an Upper Bavarian catenaccio that was not really worthy of a front-runner. Freising literally overran the guests in the following 43 minutes and took KSC apart to such an extent that one had to ask oneself why the Bittner team did not play like this all season.

SE Freising: The Günzel Festival began with a sideways kick

Maxi Rudzki (10th), Julian Kristo (14th) and Felix Günzel (16th) missed their chances carelessly, but the ball was in the net just a minute later: Johannes Kleidorfer had played a wide magic ball, Felix Günzel did not hesitate for long and artistically circled the leather into the goal with a sideways kick (17th).

But that was only the beginning of the Günzel Festival in half-time one: Ten minutes later, the agile Julian Kristo failed to beat Kirchheim's keeper Ivan Babic (27th) before Felix Günzel was back in the spotlight. Because Babic had been able to clear the Kristo ball to the corner. However, it ended up at the penalty spot with Günzel, who was able to finish completely free (27th).

The game was turned around, leaving behind quite helpless Kirchheimers, who probably had not expected such a Freising resistance and were more at odds with the refereeing decisions instead of giving up their own passivity.

Shortly before the break, Freising's goal-getter struck again: Ivan Babic had deflected a Rudzki shot to the post, but over two stations the device landed again in the center, where Felix Günzel made his hat-trick perfect (39th).

SE Freising: The break tea did not change the dominance of the hosts

After the change of sides, the cathedral city continued where they had left off 15 minutes earlier. Julian Kristo was so clever on the right that Domagoj Tiric, another fixture in the Freising game on Friday, only had to put his foot down (59th). The maximum penalty for KSC followed after a well-aimed pass into the top: Substitute Luka Brudtloff ran up and away – 5:1 (72nd). The second goal by Noel Pfeiffer (80th), a long-range shot from 20 meters, was nothing more than a cosmetic result.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

SEF coach Florian Bittner was correspondingly proud after the game: "What our boys delivered today was simply amazing – if you count the first minute." He was pleased "that the plan had worked out perfectly". Freising was compact at the back – and then waited for the corresponding chances. Man of the match, who kept the dream of staying in the league alive, was – of course – Felix Günzel.
