Ice hockey club EHC Klostersee loses after Yannick Kischer with Marinus Kritzenberger (32) next top four defenseman.

Grafing – At EHC Klostersee, another position in the back team is available for the 2023/24 season. Defenseman Marinus Kritzenberger wants to take a step back in the future as far as the very intensive leisure activities with ice hockey are concerned and will leave the Grafinger.

The 32-year-old defender will end his career with the Landesliga club EHC AibDogs Bad Aibling, i.e. virtually at home on his own doorstep. "Another very painful departure for us, which of course does not come as a surprise and has been in the room again and again for two years," said coach Dominik Quinlan on Sunday evening.

With "Kritzi" you lose another seasoned top four defender, who was not only an important performer, but also at the top of the team hierarchy and held a very important position. Kritzenberger joined the Klosterseers during the 2015/16 Oberliga round, shortly before retiring to the Bezirksliga.

"He has been through the entire rocky road from the bottom back to the third tier and has always been a constant in the process. It was foreseeable that the priorities for him as a self-employed person with his own engineering office would shift and that the time for a sport that is very time-consuming at this level would no longer be well compatible," Quinlan emphasized.

In total, the tall defender was on the ice for the Grafingers in 229 competitive games, scoring 129 points (41 goals and 88 assists) and collecting 386 penalty minutes. Chasing the puck was already on the agenda for Kritzenberger a year ago, but after the Bayernliga championship and promotion to the Oberliga, the left-winger, who was once trained in the talent shed of the Starbulls Rosenheim, postponed the time once again.

With the resignation of Marinus Kritzenberger and the departure of Yannick Kischer to the Nord-Oberliga club Hammer Eisbären, the Klosterseer now have two equally larger holes to plug in the cover. Ele
