Summary of Maccabi Tel Aviv's 1:2 victory over M.S. Ashdod (Sport1)
The Ministry of Culture and Sport officially joined the request of Maccabi Tel Aviv and the Football Association and signed the new appeal to the Ministry of the Interior, in order to naturalize Enric Savorit as soon as possible. As reported here yesterday for the first time, the Football Association and Maccabi Tel Aviv have restarted the process of making Saborit an Israeli citizen, after the Spaniard signed a new contract that is supposed to keep him in Israel until the summer of 2026 and in total finish here for at least eight years.
The Ministry of Culture and Sports, headed by Minister Miki Zohar, joined the request currently being made by Interior Minister Moshe Arbel, with the understanding that Saborit can help the Israeli national team succeed in the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifying tournament and later in preparation for the next World Cup. Savorit wants to stay in Israel and play for the national team, as Miguel Vitor does.

With the Ministry of Culture and Sport joining the application, Maccabi Tel Aviv is convinced that soon Saborit will receive citizenship and they will be able to register another foreigner in his place.
Saborit, 31, arrived in Israel in 2018, when he signed for three years with Maccabi Tel Aviv, and immediately became one of the best foreigners in the league. He helped the Yellows win two consecutive championships and then the State Cup. He is due to sign a three-year contract with the Yellow Jackets soon. He has previously represented Spain's youth teams - he has appearances for the under-17, under-18 and under-19 teams.
