The appearance of two Bayern stars after FC Bayern's debacle against RB Leipzig spoke volumes. Her future in Munich is more than uncertain.
Munich – While one shed tears, the other tried to build up his teammates.
FC Bayern's stars reacted in completely different ways to the bitter 1-3 defeat against RB Leipzig on Saturday evening. Should BVB win at FC Augsburg on Sunday evening, the top of the table would be gone - and possibly the last title in this all-too-memorable Bayern season.

Farewell to FC Bayern? Benjamin Pavard and Joao Cancelo lingered a conspicuously long time in front of the south corner
In particular, however, the reaction of two Munich players shortly after the end of the game spoke volumes. While Joshua Kimmich stood alone between the centre circle and the penalty area for minutes, almost petrified, with moist eyes and Sadio Mané tried to cheer everyone up, Joao Cancelo and Benjamin Pavard lingered in front of the south corner long after the final whistle.
That smelled like goodbye! In the case of Cancelo, whose loan from Manchester City is only limited to this season anyway, Bayern have an option to buy. But 70 million is simply too much. Especially since the Munich team needs the money more urgently in other squad positions (strikers, sixes).

Farewell in the summer? Pavard and Cancelo's appearance shortly after the end of the game gives a deep insight
In the case of Pavard, his action could have been a hint. The 27-year-old's contract with the record champions runs until 2024, but so far the Frenchman has not wanted to accept the offer of an extension. So the bosses could probably only have the option of giving up Pavard this summer.

My Area
There are plenty of interested parties. Above all, FC Barcelona is said to be interested in the 2018 world champion. Pavard himself had repeatedly flirted with a change in the past because he wanted to be used permanently in central defence.
Benjamin Pavard at FC Bayern: One of the best as a central defender recently
Apart from the Leipzig game (tz grade 5), Pavard has recently been the most consistent Bayern kicker, delivering some strong performances. Alongside Matthijs de Ligt, he has been set in central defence in recent weeks. Thomas Tuchel recently sang the praises of his star defender.
"I'm very happy to coach him. He's strong, consistent, solid and has a high level," said the coach on Friday ahead of the Leipzig game: "He can play both on the outside and inside, I can also understand that he likes to play as a central defender. But I think his best position is in the back three."
Lucas Hernandez to return to FC Bayern: No more room for Pavard?
However, with Lucas Hernandez, another "leading player" (Tuchel) returns for the new season after his cruciate ligament rupture. With him, de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano, the competition in the centre of defence would be much greater again – and Pavard could once again have to switch to the unpopular right-back position.
Therefore, it is not completely out of the question that the defeat against Leipzig was Pavard's farewell performance at the Allianz Arena. At least there was not a little hint at it on Saturday evening after the end of the game. (smk)
