2023-05-23T16:01:23.115Z

Highlights: Laurent Travers will succeed Jacky Lorenzetti as manager of Racing 92 next season. The 75-year-old will become chairman of the club's board in a month. Travers has led Racing 92 to the Top 14 title in each of the last five seasons. Lorezetti and Travers first met ten years ago at a lunch with Pierre Berbizier, who was manager at the club from 2007 to 2012. The pair have a close relationship, with Travers hoping to win a second title with Racing in 2016.

INTERVIEW - The president of Racing 92 and his manager, who will succeed him next season, confide in their relationship.

In May 2006, Jacky Lorenzetti became the president of a Racing that lived in the second division. He has made it one of the best clubs in France, "qualified each season for the final phase of the Top 14," says the 75-year-old manager. For ten years, he has linked his destiny to Laurent Travers, who first coached the Ciel et Blanc with Laurent Labit, before becoming sole manager since 2019. In a month, Travers will know, at 54 years old, a new promotion by becoming chairman of the club's board. An evolution that comes at the right time for the technician feeling that the end of the cycle has arrived. Even if he insists: "We played 16 quarter-finals, 9 semi-finals and 4 finals (Top 14 and Champions Cup)". And he does not hide his ambition: to win a second title after that of 2016.
