As part of the fight against violence in sports, a proposal was recently made according to which one of the judges of the disciplinary court of the Football Association would be given the powers of a civil referee, and would be able to try any rioter on the football field within the framework of the court, Israel Hayom first learned.
The proposal in question by the league administration and the Football Association was recently presented to the Ministry of Justice, Minister of Culture and Sport Miki Zohar, and other relevant bodies. The proposal was born out of the desire to have a sports referee, but now there is a shortage of referees, and in the meantime the punishments that rioters receive are too light, mainly due to the misunderstanding of the referees in the field of sports.
It is not yet known whether the proposal will be accepted and exactly how it will be implemented, and according to various sources, the Ministry of Justice and the court administration will have to give the judge the required degree or certain training, in order for him to enter the adjudication process as quickly as possible.
The bill on the subject
Also today (Wednesday) on the same subject, following the events of the outbreak on the field last night in the cup final, MK Simon Davidson (Yesh Atid) today submitted a bill that increases the penalties for breaking into the pitches.
