In the Chilean Football League, a bizarre incident occurred when a dog found its way onto the pitch. The actors took it with humor.
Curicó - In South America, football is played and lived with passion. Often there are images of dream goals, dramatic last-minute goals, pack formations, which sometimes degenerate into minutes of tangible arguments or other curious scenes. One occurred recently in Chile, where a first division match had to be briefly interrupted by a four-legged intruder.

On Monday, 15 May, the relegation-threatened Chilean first division club CDP Curicó Unido played against Club Deportivo Palestino from the capital Santiago. After just six minutes, there was a real surprise for the fans and both teams.
All of a sudden, a large dog, which had apparently entered the stadium, ran across the pitch and aimed at the ball. Arriving at the playground equipment, the animal tried to bite into the leather. So some players and the referee set out to get the four-legged friend off the pitch.

First, however, the dog was petted before the Argentine Palestino strikerMaximiliano Salas took the initiative and carried the visibly heavy troublemaker off the field with difficulty, but also with a smile on his face. However, the home team did not bring any luck to the visitors, as Palestino ultimately won the game 1-0. Thus, Curicó must continue to fear for relegation, on the following matchday the club managed to win against record champions Colo Colo.
The scene itself is bizarre – at least from a European point of view. It is made even more peculiar by the fact that less than a year ago the same scene had taken place in the same place. At the Estadio Bicentenario La Granja in Curicó, a dog had also taken to the pitch during a friendly match between the Chilean women's national team and the Venezuelan selection. He had first let himself be stroked by the players on the pitch before he was carried off the pitch by a player. In Curicó, dogs and football seem to belong together somehow. (ajr)
