Three days before the Premier League finale, Manchester United now host Chelsea for a Round of 32 match, with a point enough for the Red Devils to secure their place in the Champions League. If they beat Chelsea, they would overtake Newcastle to move up to third place before the final 90 minutes of the season.

Fortunately for manager Erik ten Hag, Marcus Rashford, who has recovered from injury and illness, has returned to the squad, but he is probably keeping it for Fulham on Sunday and the FA Cup final against Manchester City next Saturday, so the star remains on the bench. In his absence, Jadon Sancho is on the left flank and Anthony Martial has retained his place in the forward - the same 11 who started the win over Bournemouth.
As far as Chelsea are concerned, interim manager Frank Lampard's only win since replacing Graham Potter at the start of April came in a 1-3 away win over Bournemouth, which United beat 0-1 on Saturday. Chelsea played on Sunday and succumbed 1-0 to Manchester City's secondary, a result that dropped them to 12th place and is just waiting for their failed season to end – they are well on their way to finishing outside the top 10 for the first time since 1996. As part of Lampard's many changes, his line-up this time has included young Carney Chukwuemeka, Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueka and Kai Havertz, while Raheem Sterling has been left out of the squad due to injury. Lampard can at least take credit for this being the third time in Premier League history that nine players aged 24 or under, after Middlesbrough (10 in 2006) and Aston Villa (10 in 2013).

Minute 4: What an opportunity for Chelsea. The young Hall went on the offensive, burst on the left line and passed wide unsurprisingly, Mudryk should have scored in front of De Gea, but did not connect well with the ball and kicked from about five yards out.
Minute 6: Goal! 0:1 to Manchester United. Casemiro with his second goal in four days, after sneaking well wide, got first to a stationary ball picked up by Eriksen and beat Kepa with a tap-in.
