Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, world No. 1, and Serbian Novak Djokovic, No. 3, seeking a 23rd Grand Slam title at Roland Garros, are placed in the same half of the draw and will not be able to face each other before the semifinals, according to the draw made Thursday.

The other semi-final could be between Russia's Daniil Medvedev (N.2) and last year's finalist, Norway's Casper Ruud (N.4). Defending champion and 14-time winner Rafael Nadal withdrew before the start of the tournament, insufficiently recovered from a hip muscle injury sustained in the second round of the Australian Open in January.
