Thomas Tuchel has a frightening record as coach of FC Bayern. The figures reveal the bitter comparison with predecessor Julian Nagelsmann.
Munich – Thomas Tuchel has been coach at FC Bayern for almost two months. As the successor to ex-coach Julian Nagelsmann, he was supposed to save the endangered goals of the season. The opposite has happened: Tuchel has a catastrophic record at FC Bayern, the numbers show the bitter Nagelsmann comparison.

Competitive matches | 37 | 11 |
Victories | 27 | 5 |
Draw | 7 | 2 |

Nagelsmann was on course for the treble with FC Bayern: Tuchel is likely to lose three titles in a few weeks
On 25 March, Thomas Tuchel was unveiled at FC Bayern as the successor to Julian Nagelsmann, who has now been released from the club. The bosses around Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic presented the Krumbacher as a savior. At that time, Bayern were still promising in all three competitions, but less than two months later the reality in Munich is completely different.
Tuchel started directly with a 4-2 win against Borussia Dortmund and regained the top of the table, but in the second game the first chance of winning the title was gone with the 1-2 against Freiburg and the quarter-finals in the DFB Cup. After eight victories under Nagelsmann, Tuchel knocked out Manchester City (0-3, 1-1) in the Champions League. And the 49-year-old has probably also missed the German championship with Bayern.

Tuchel's catastrophic record at FC Bayern: Figures show bitter Nagelsmann comparison
The German championship title is actually considered a foregone conclusion in Munich, for a decade the bowl has only known the Bavarians as owners. After FC Bayern's 1-3 defeat against RB Leipzig and Dortmund's 3-0 win in Augsburg, the top of the table is gone with one matchday to go. It was the fourth defeat for Tuchel in his eleventh competitive game as FCB coach and thus one more than under Nagelsmann in 37 games this season.
Tuchel did not even win half of the games with Bayern, five wins are just four defeats and two draws. While Nagelsmann has a points average of 2022.23 in the Bundesliga in the 2/1 season, Tuchel only has two points - a total of only 1.55 points per game. There are reasons for the horror record.
Tuchel concedes more bankruptcies than Nagelsmann – Bayern coach in need of explanation
Both the offense and defense have worse scores. While under Nagelsmann it was a whopping three goals on average in all games this season, under Tuchel it is only 1.8. On the other hand, Bayern conceded more goals. 1.5 goals conceded per game is clearly too much, under Nagelsmann it was still a decent 0.9.

While Nagelsmann always had solutions ready after poor results, Tuchel seems to be at a loss after just a few weeks in office. "I don't have an explanation, we're coming out of a good phase now. I see the team training, I feel the energy, I see the spirit in training. And then I don't have an explanation at the moment how something like that can happen," said Tuchel, who raged after Bayern's bankruptcy: "I want to lose to a better team". (ck)
