The jersey of iconic basketball star Michael Jordan, which he wore for Team USA during the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, sold at auction this week for a staggering sum.
The No. 9 jersey, featuring a personal dedication from Jordan to Karl Malone, sold for $3.03 million, breaking records as one of the most expensive sports items in history.
The shirt is part of the Dream Team private sale, which is currently taking place at the Goldin Auctions auction house, which includes an impressive collection of jerseys and shoes used in Barcelona, which Malone has accumulated over the years.

According to the listing on Goldin's website, the items were displayed at Malone's dealership in Draper, Utah. His decision to sell the collectibles was featured in an episode of Netflix's The King of Collectibles: The Golden Touch when negotiating the deal.

Jordan's jersey was fitted for Team USA's semifinal match against Lithuania. He finished with 21 points, four rebounds and three assists in a 76-127 win. The Americans went on to defeat Croatia, 85-117, in the gold medal game.
