2023-05-26T18:59:49.411Z

Highlights: FC Bayern's supervisory board meeting has been postponed until next week. The German record champions will meet three days after the Bundesliga season finale. The focus will of course be on the perspectives of CEO Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. Jan-Christian Dreesen has been considered a possible replacement for former DFB keeper Oliver Kahn. The meeting will take place at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday (30 May) on the final day of the Bundesliga championship.

FC Bayern's supervisory board meeting has been postponed until next week. What decisions does the powerful body have to make? Here is a first preview.

Munich - On Wednesday, FC Bayern announced on its homepage that its supervisory board would postpone its next upcoming meeting, namely to next Tuesday (30 May) - when the showdown on the final Bundesliga matchday is over. Regardless of the outcome of the long-distance duel with BVB on Saturday (15:30 CET, live on Sky), important and exciting discussions and decisions will be made in the powerful FCB committee, which will meet at the Allianz Arena.

The German record champions also made a statement on their website regarding the new date, which was originally supposed to take place on 22 May, and explained: "By scheduling a meeting day after the final game of the season at 1st FC Cologne, the concentration of everyone in the club should focus on the sporting aspect in the decisive phase of the championship race."

Actually, Bayern's supervisory meeting always takes place before the end of the season. Bayern president and chairman Herbert Hainer had also explained this after the 2-0 win against Hertha BSC: "We always set the dates for the supervisory board meeting one year in advance. For the last 20 years, at least since I've been here, it's always been on the Monday before the last matchday. Because after that, everything goes on vacation." Now, however, there has been a change of plan – and the scenario that the Munich-based company could be without a title for the first time since 2012 obviously played a role.

Supervisory board meeting imminent: Bayern bosses Kahn and Salihamidzic in focus

Ahead of the important and presumably groundbreaking meeting, the focus will of course be on the perspectives of CEO Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. While Kahn has been increasingly criticized for weeks, at least since the controversial Nagelsmann dismissal, Salihamidzic's standing has apparently also fallen recently, as the kicker wrote. As a favorite of Uli Hoeneß, he was actually considered protected and secured for the time being. Even the red transfer balance of the sporting director does not necessarily provide a tailwind these days, and his relationship with the team, as also reported by the kicker, is considered to be shattered.

So all observers are hoping for answers to two main questions next Tuesday: Will Oliver Kahn remain CEO? And can Hasan Salihamidzic still hold on as sporting director? Especially after the 1-3 defeat of his Bayern against RB Leipzig, "Brazzo" looked extremely battered. Was that just because of the bitter setback in the championship fight or was he already thinking about his own future with the Munich team? Unclear. The only thing that is clear is that certainties about the two important Bayern posts are not to be expected until after the supervisory board meeting. At the earliest.

Possible personnel changes after Supervisory Board meeting: Will Dreesen come for Kahn?

If, for example, Kahn has to take his hat off at the supervisory board meeting, a possible successor could already be ready. For some time now, deputy chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen has been considered a possible replacement for the former DFB keeper.

However, these rumours are bubbling even more strongly after the collapse of the investor plan in the Bundesliga, because Dreesen, who is considered the top favourite for the DFL managing director position, is now likely to find the DFL post noticeably less attractive. The path to the top of Bayern would therefore be even more tempting for him. A plus point of a future FCB CEO Dreesen: He is apparently appreciated in the Bavarian fan and ultra scene and is considered communicative.

FC Bayern supervisory board meeting: Eight heads decide on the future of the club

So it's going to be exciting next Tuesday, maybe even more exciting than the big Bundesliga final three days earlier. All eyes are now on the eight-member FCB supervisory board, especially if the championship really goes to BVB at the weekend.

However, the experienced decision-makers, all of whom are business or football experts, will know how to deal with the pressure: In addition to President Hainer, Bayern icon and honorary president Uli Hoeneß, former Bavarian Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber, Dieter Mayer (1st Vice President of the association), Werner Zedelius (Allianz), Thorsten Langheim (Telekom), Markus Duesmann (Audi) and Jan Heinemann (Adidas) are also members of the committee.

FC Bayern ahead of supervisory board meeting: Record turnover is said to have been achieved

The FCB supervisory board, which actually consists of nine people – but one position is currently vacant after the departure of Michael Diederich – is an important authority, especially with regard to major sporting decisions made by the Munich team. This applies not only to the club's absolute management staff, the supervisory board must also approve all transfers over 20 million euros, for example. After all, things are looking good for Bayern financially. This season, a record turnover of over 830 million is said to have been achieved. Herbert Hainer recently explained: "Financially, FC Bayern is very, very well positioned. We have a high equity ratio, we also have a bit of money in the fixed-term deposit account."

At the upcoming Supervisory Board meeting, the financial framework for the coming year will also be redefined. It's clear that a lot has to and will happen here – at least one top striker is needed. And its expenditure is likely to easily exceed 20 million euros, as is well known. Whether this striker will then be hired by the two previous Bayern bosses Kahn and Salihamidzic or Dreesen and Salihamidzic or completely different names will only be known in a few days. The fact is: Regardless of whether Bayern are runners-up or champions on Saturday - there will definitely be noticeable changes at Säbener Straße. Should FC Bayern put Kahn and Salihamidzic out the door? There are pros and cons to such a decision.
