Ben Shahr ends his contract at Maccabi Haifa after two years, and last season he managed to get on the pitch for only seven minutes in the Premier League, against Maccabi Netanya in the final round, due to a foot injury that sidelined him for a whole year. The striker said goodbye on Saturday evening in an Instagram post.

"For the first time in my career, I'm trying to summarize a period but don't really know where to start or what to say," Shahr wrote. "First of all, I want to say to you, the fans, a huge thank you. Thank you for hugging and enveloping me throughout the period even if you didn't see me on the court. From the messages I received from you, I understood that you feel just like me, that this period was mostly a feeling of missing out and things should have looked different. But like any professional player, I know that's how it is in sports, even if it's hard to make or understand the decisions."

"This period was made up of good moments and challenging moments. I started it very well on the pitch with a goal and the title of champion of champions. This year I also experienced a serious injury at the beginning of the season, and despite the disappointment I feel I won," the 33-year-old striker continued. "I woke up every day knowing that no matter what happens, I come and work as hard as I can. I decided to come in happy and bring my experience to the locker room and help my teammates pick up another championship title. They deserve all the credit after such a great season."

Shahr concluded: "Today I am starting a new path. Thank God, the injury is behind me. The hunger and desire to show myself soon on the pitch is greater than ever. I thank G-d for letting me learn from this time as well, and I am already looking forward to the next challenge."
