Recap: Bayern Munich won the German championship with a 1:2 away win over FC Cologne (Sport1)
If the emotional upheaval created by Saturday's fascinating Bundesliga finale was not enough, it was immediately followed by a bombshell dropped by the German media: Already yesterday, and even before Bayern Munich's dramatic 11th consecutive title, CEO Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic were notified of their termination at the club during a board meeting convened at short notice.
While the latter watched from the stands as a 1-2 win over Cologne secured the title, Khan was absent from the game and those around the club claimed that he was suffering from the flu, but even if this is true, it is probably only part of the truth.
Khan's successor is his deputy, Jan-Christian Driesen, and together with president Herbert Hainer, board member Olli Hans, former CEO Karl-Heinz Rummeniga and, of course, coach Thomas Tuchel, they will be responsible for building the team for next season.

One person who was shocked to receive the news was Bayern Munich captain Thomas Muller, who heard this in an interview with Sky Germany after the game in Cologne, and said: "Now they've announced it? A minute after the final whistle? I didn't know anything until this moment."
Driessen is also expected to take over as CEO, being considered very close to Bayern's "old guard" under Bayern's management, which is headed by Hans and Rummeniga. German media say it is unclear whether a replacement for Salihamidzic will be appointed. The Bosnian reportedly informed the players of his departure in the dressing room after winning the championship, and a press conference will be held tomorrow where the club will officially announce his farewell.
This is not the first shock Bayern has experienced in recent months, because it was only at the beginning of March that coach Julian Nagelsmann was unexpectedly fired, just days before the Clasicker against Dortmund, when the Bavarians marched to the top of the table and were still in the race for the Champions League and the German Cup.
