A very talented cross-country skier is changing sports and is now competing in the biathlon team of the German team.
Ruhpolding - The biathlon season has been over for a few weeks and the athletes were relieved to finally get a break to recover from the rigors of winter. Several of them took the opportunity and declared their retirement from active biathlon sport. At the German team, Denise Herrmann-Wick leaves a big gap that will be difficult to fill.

Biathlon change not a short-term decision by de Buhr
Herrmann-Wick, Beijing 2022 Olympic champion in singles and two-time world champion, saw the time had come to dedicate herself to a new chapter in her life. Despite her retirement, however, she can't get away from biathlon. "True love never ends! Even in the 'biathlon retirement' I just can't let it go," she recently wrote on her Instagram account under several pictures that showed her during shooting practice.
Charlotta de Buhr, a talented cross-country skier who also carried a rifle, was there. "The youngsters are already getting ready," Denise Herrmann-Wick continued, apparently pleased that the German women's team is getting young reinforcements. De Buhr herself announced the decision to change sports on her Instagram account back in mid-April: "Biathlon is calling. I'm looking forward to the new challenges."

In an interview with the online portal chiemgau24.de, de Buhr now confirmed that a change was not a short-term decision: "I've been planning this for a long time and have been flirting with biathlon." In doing so, she is following in the footsteps of the 34-year-old Olympic champion, who also initially competed in cross-country skiing and later switched to biathlon.
Cross-country skiing jewel Charlotta de Buhr experienced health setbacks
In the junior category, de Buhr showed strong performances in cross-country skiing and was one of the strongest young runners in Germany. However, health setbacks threw her back again and again. However, the 20-year-old is extremely talented, as she only started cross-country skiing shortly before her 16th birthday and ran to the top of Germany within a few years.

Now it's time for Charlotta de Buhr to learn how to shoot and gain a lot of experience in order to be able to follow in the footsteps of Denise Herrmann-Wick. "Little by Little, day by day," she wrote on Instagram under a picture of herself shooting. It is not yet known how the DSV plans with the 20-year-old from next season. (smr
