Two weeks after Maccabi Haifa won the title in Israel, two of its three opponents this season in the group stage of the Champions League also won titles in their respective leagues on Saturday.
PSG needed a point tonight in Strasbourg to secure an 11th title in history and they drew 1-1 through a Leo Messi goal, with veteran Kevin Gameiro equalising for the hosts. This win lifted PSG to the top of the French championship table, overtaking Saint-Etienne, who had been at the top for many years, until the sheikhs from Qatar arrived in the City of Light.
Leo Messi, the world champion with Argentina, scored the only goal of the match for Paris from an assist from Kylian Mbappe, just before making a decision on the next destination of his career when it is clear that he will leave the Parisians at the end of the season, with the futures of Mbappé and Neymar also uncertain for next season. This year, too, PSG fans expected to finally win the Champions League, but saw their team eliminated in the eighth final by Bayern Munich, and will now likely see some changes in the squad and possibly the coaching position again.

Another team celebrating a championship tonight is Benfica, which won the Portuguese league title for the 38th time in its history and the first since 2019. Benfica, who started the season great, and then suffered a bit from fatigue in the second half, beat Santa Clara 0-3 today in the final round and completed the task.

Gonzalo Ramos (7), Rafa (28) and Alex Grimaldo on penalties (60) scored the goals and set the tone for the big celebrations at the Stadium of Light. Benfica, under coach Roger Schmidt, who won the title in his first season with the club, finished the season with 87 points and were two points ahead of Porto, who had won 8 consecutive games, but this did not help them steal the title.
