Recap of Maccabi Tel Aviv's 1:2 victory over Hapoel Jerusalem (Sport1)
The long hiatus that Israeli football has entered also brings with it "scandals" of a different kind, far from the pitch. Such is the new mini-storm that developed on social networks in the past 24 hours following an innocent photo from a private party in which Eran Zehavi took part.
In the picture, Zahavi is seen with some object in his mouth, and at first glance one might think that he is smoking a cigarette. The image made waves on social media, especially Twitter, with Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Tel Aviv fans proudly spreading it, while Maccabi Tel Aviv fans defended the revered star.
The picture in question
Less than 24 hours passed, and Zehavi and his family decided to respond. In a story posted by his wife Shai, Zahavi was seen sucking on a lollipop, supposedly proof that the object seen in his mouth was not a cigarette. Zahavi shared the photo himself, sarcastically wrote: "Enjoy Twitters," and added a triple finger emoji.
His brother, Avi Zehavi, also responded on Twitter, posting additional footage of Zahavi from the same party in question, where he holds a lollipop.

The "affair" gained momentum on social networks following the reactions of Zahavi and his family, and Twitter once again became a concoction. Many web surfers tried to interpret and make a final decision as to whether it was a cigarette or a lollipop, and sports channel commentator Moshe Primo concluded: "Do you really care if Eran Zahavi at a private party sucked on a candy or smoked a cigarette? Come on, players you tweet about constantly, have not done and will never do what the youth team did."
